Windows 10: Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14342 for PC

Yea, who decided to distort the English language to breaking point to use 'hydrate' to describe this. Wonder why populate wasn't good enough? But I guess populate means fill with people so even that is problematic!

- yup, so far so good..
- had one of those "Display adapter stopped working.." messages earlier..
- reckon that has more to do with AMD than anything in this build (- I'll investigate that more fully, in due course..)
- just pleased that things have installed ok..

- all web-pages are loading correctly in both Edge and IE11, so no complaints there.. *Cool

 

Hi guys,
can anybody help me? I am hopeless... I had 14295 installed and when I tried to update to 14316 and 32 it always ended up in BSOD cycle on boot. Now when 14342 was released I tried to update it, but it didn't even start to update when it finished downloading and propted to restart...
So I made up my mind and went into complete reinstall. I downloaded 14332 ISO, made USB, installed it and now I tried everything and I can't make my Windows Update to get the newest 14342.
I tried looking in registry, tried some changes. Nothing...
I tried to download Media Creation tool, then tried to update through that, but it didn't give me option to only update. Only complete reinstall and I didn't went for it, because I think it would install public release.
I tried to reset Windows update services via TechNet Reset Windows Update Agent, but didn't help.

Can anybody help me? I am positive that I should see the update, because I saw it few hours ago when trying to update from 14295.

If you think 14342 had finished downloading but didn't proceed with the update, you may already have the "install.esd" file. Copy-paste this to a File Explorer window: C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources and look for the "install.esd" file and follow this tutorial to create an ISO for build 14342 and do a clean install: ESD to ISO - Create Bootable ISO from Windows 10 ESD File

 

It was another roller-coaster upgrade for me. The upgrade was completed but I got this on first boot:





But no biggies. I immediately found the culprit. I just boot up on my main 10586 OS and scanned my Insider SSD for errors and redo the upgrade via ISO (from ESD) and everything is okay now. Oh yeah, I could have done a clean install but I always wanna see first how an in-place upgrade goes.

Ah, so someone remembers Sea Monkeys, that you mail-ordered based on an ad you saw on the back page of your comic book Just add water! What a masterpiece of marketing. Evidently, they sold a LOT of Sea Monkeys. AKA brine shrimp.

Well, maybe *Smile I don't know - do they still sell those things? It wouldn't surprise me if they became sort of a nostalgia-kitsch thing.

Looks good to me. No issues so far. I agree that the Hub for reporting issues has been awash for last few builds.

 

Well I couldn't, because in the meantime I made new clean install, so everything got deleted. However I tried to start up my Hyper-V VM to get that install.esd for 14342, but there it didn't want to update either. *Smile

Well the good news is, that I slept on it for 6 hours and now I got the update. So maybe it wasn't on my end, but some shenanigans on MS side *Smile

 

Was "Windows To Go" in Pro Builds before?

 

Just now getting around to the BT Folder project VM which is seeing the 342 coming in. Then I move onto the last VM and this time unlike with the 332 where the second desktop was last the main will be the last once again for seeing this build.

So far none of the Windows sounds problem that came up with the 295 through 328 builds when if was finally resolved. Other then that you wouldn't even notice much of a difference unless looking for something specific except the download and update time was about 45min. compared to the previous full hour seen with the 332.

Will be waiting now to see if the Clean Install from BT Folder VM is no longer sluggish at responding.Hopefully the 342 will see that cleared up while I won't be expecting any problem with the Home VM or on the main except for the usual need to reinstall the sound card's software again.

I finally got the "Projecting to this pc" item on the first Pro VM as well as on the second desktop being a first here with any build so far!

 

Print this out, and try one more time! They should hatch!
