Windows 10: Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Fast Build 17112 - Mar. 2

That's the problem with having Store, Defender and Windows Update trying to update at the same time. They interfere with each other.

 

Well, it is obvious now we are on final run in to RS4 but isn't it slightly odd MS have not formally given a "name" to it yet. I guess we can start our traditional "guess the build number".

I promise to take the closest guesser to a famous whisky (no e) bar in Aberdeen (they would have to pay their own flight/hotel etc though :-D).

 

Wow! Another busy day, and another one slips my notice. Initializing on both test machines right now. Frankly, totally overwhelmed getting ready to leave for the Mother Ship tomorrow to attend MVP Summit. I'll report back if anything odd presents AND if I have time! *sarc

I tried using Windows Update to upgrade. For what ever reason my desktop still doesn't like the Windows Update UUP method. After 2-1/2 hours I got as far as 90%. While Windows Update was running I decided to use the UUPDump method to make a ISO. I got tired of seeing Windows update stuck at 90% that I decided to restart my computer and use my ISO to update. It took a total of 63 minutes. UUPDump took 5 minutes, UUPtoISO took 7 minutes and The ISO install took 51 minutes. This build also restored my bookmarks that got deleted in build 17110.

 

Wow, I just see a new build awaits. After a day at work, it’ll have to wait til tomorrow—too tired to deal with this now.

 

Apart from a black screen and no activity for 5 minutes at the restart before "Working on Updates" 17112 installed OK. At the black screen I powered off and on again, and it fired up and continued OK. Store is present, and operational. Prior to seeing the Insider update, this morning I installed Malwarebytes 3.4.3 beta. Malwarebytes was running with all protection enabled when I commenced the build 17112 update.

Downloaded and built .ISO of all editions of X64 (I've started doing this for every recent build, now, and will continue to do this, for English (US), via UUPDump miniserver.

It helps immensely that the updated UUP2ISO includes code to recognize the the presence of multi-edition downloads and build a multi-edition .ISO, and with my fast connection (I say updated because I never tried this before the last update in the first place, so if it always contained the code, I did not know), I'm usually done within 15-20 minutes from start of downloading to .ISO built.

I'd love (but secretly hate) to see how fast it is on my sister's new laptop....

 

It took about 01:50 to upgrade including making the ISO but, sleep/wake problem still on, everything else seems to work fine.

 

I just created a PRO iso from github using @Kari latest uuptoiso which worked fine on 17110 but has gone back to previous behaviour ie boots to enter keyboard screen!
