Windows 10: Annoying desktop background pictures that cannot be deleted

This is a long-term, annoying problem. Have a couple of folders for desktop background pictures that used to work as a slideshow on the desktop. For a couple of months now, unknown pictures that I never would have chosen pop up as the background. Posted this issue before and tried all suggestions, had both Dell and Microsoft techs try to fix the problem...nothing has worked. How can I delete default background pictures that are embedded in Windows 10?? Have researched this and tried everything imaginable including using file explorer, going into windows, web and trying to delete picures but I really cannot find the idiotic pictures that pop up. This is an annoying problem and not something very serious but any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Sorry for the delay in response



I would suggest you to try the following steps:

• 
  Open Desktop Background by right clicking on the desktop clicking Personalization
  
• 
  Click the picture or color that you want to use for your desktop background.
  
• 
  If the picture you want to use isn't in the list of desktop background pictures, click an item in the Picture location list to see other categories, or click Browse to search for the picture on your computer.
  When you find the picture that you want, double-click it. It will become your desktop background.

Lost desktop background

I did a Search & Distroy spyware scan the other day, and one of the suggested "fixes" said something about removing Active Desktop. Like the muppet I am I clicked yes and am now without a desktop background picture.

Does anyone have an idea how to reverse this? If I try to select a picture it's simply not added as a background.

Open a folder of pictures, right click any image and choose 'Set as Desktop Background'

If you mean to delete a background picture from the small thumbnails of backgrounds in the Settings App, then do the above a few times and that background will be removed form that list . ..
