    I am looking for a duplicate file finder for photos and videos to scan external terabyte drives and came across these while looking through Reddit. Anyone have any comments on these or another thorough application that can do the job? TIA.

    Can any member suggest a free duplicate image file finder ...i have tried a few ..the programs find them but you have buy a
    license for similar images to be deleted and some are too fiddly to use.

    Finding duplicate images is extremely hard . . .

    It depends an the criteria the software uses to find duplicates, file name, file size, meta data, pixel to pixel comparison, visual similarity . . . etc.

    So the questions I would ask of the software developer are:

    • what criteria is that software using to compare images
    • can you change the comparison criteria with that software

    Ultimate Duplicate Photo Finder not being able to find duplicates is not a Windows issue, rather an issue with the software you are using, namely Ultimate
    Duplicate Photo Finder!

    You need to be careful with a duplicate file finder program. Sometimes there can be a duplicate file but its a file, at least the file name, that two different programs have installed. If you delete one of them, one program will not run (or run correctly). For that reason, I don't use a duplicate file finder.
