  1. Antimalware Service Executable is using 1.2gb of RAM

    Hello,

As the title says, I just noticed that the Antimalware Service Executable process is using way too much RAM, 1.2gb to be exact. I noticed that this was caused by having the Real-Time Protection option enabled, but I still don't think this is normal. I tried leaving Windows Defender be for a whole day because I thought it was scanning, but now, a day later, it's still using a lot of my system's RAM. CPU usage remains normal, however.

Now, I have 16gb of RAM so it's not really that big of an issue, but I don't like having to dedicate such a huge amount to something I'm not actively using. I also tried performing a full scan in case there was a virus or malware, but nothing really came up; my system is clean.

Is there a way to fix this? I don't want to disable Real-Time Protection every other day since it enables itself.

As a bit of extra info, I noticed this huge spike in RAM usage when Windows updated itself a week ago. I tried uninstalling the updates but it wouldn't let me because they were security updates. I have Windows 10 Pro 1809, compilation 17763.107.

    Thank you for your time.

    :)
