All my programs run fine. I am not planning to play games or do 3D stuff

I see 1607 had a few problems and 1703 is coming in a few months

    youtube playback problems

Hi, for some reason my youtube videos stutter or have to buffer regularly where in the past they didn't. I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 on my laptop, having had it on my desktop for ages. I have also formed a Homegroup. Any suggestions??

Any reason to upgrade past 1511?

The next RedStone is not due out until Fall 2017. 1607 does not have problems. It is those that have older hardware or have pre-existing problems from not doing a clean install when 10 first came out is where the problems are happening.

Not true for me e.g. https://www.tenforums.com/installati...te-report.html

There were also problems reported on the forum of missing drives or drives having RAW format after the Anniversary Update plus you have to tolerate the irritating lock screen on boot which can't be easily turned off.

Hi: lock screen: this (free) disables it including the default lock screen shown after booting:

Any reason to upgrade past 1511? [IMG]

You can try the update relatively safely if you are in the habit of routinely using disk imaging as we repeatedly recommend people should. You can restore your PC from an image you have created if anything goes wrong (excluding hardware faults other than disk failure).

Early reports and bad experiences of 1607 and failing updates seem to have been largely overcome after a series of major cumulative updates. However, I recommend the cautious approach of using disk imaging.

A very few programs were rendered incompatible with 1607; those I know of have caught up.

Version 1607 Build 14393.576 runs perfectly fine *Smile

The only issue I had was that ccleaner would no longer work on this version.

    I`m sure that`ll get fixed.

CCleaner works here just fine, didn't even have to reinstall it, unlike MBAM for instance.

Is that correct? I'm on the latest release of 1511 (10586.713) with updates deferred. I don't see any nag screens saying I need to update to 1607? Where do you find the definitive information on the end of support for 1511?

If it would nag you for something it would be to update to current build but you deferred updates so...
I can't see a reason not to update though.

Make a complete image backup using Macrium Reflect, then upgrade to latest Windows.
