Windows 10: Any suggestions for a anti virus software ?

Defender seems to have a mediocre reputation, but not a bad one. It's free. And it plays best with Windows because it's a Microsoft product. As long as you've got a decent firewall in your router and no exposed ports that could be used to compromise security, it all comes down to what you get in emails and what sites you visit. Definitely worthwhile to tag-team with Malwarebytes.

Norton had a terrific reputation for so many years. But... I find their subscription program rather expensive. If I was someone who had to venture into the depths of the Internet for my job, I'd probably have it. But as a general consumer of the Internet and avoiding the questionable sites (porn and warez), I feel like Norton is not necessary. Still... if you don't mind the cost, you can't go wrong.

Windows Defender always comes out very poorly in these tests. There have been some recent improvements and it is now only awful whereas it used to be abysmal. Here is a decent summary view of test results from a few months ago - https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus...ws/windows-10/

Please note that the test lab reports report the performance characteristics; they do not merely list the products in an order of preference. So we are able to decide which factors we regard as more or less important and to make our own selection decisions based on that.

I have not found a testing lab that assesses product support or the amount of internet data typically used by the different products. In fact, I have never found any review of antimalware products that considers these factors.
