  1. Any way to cut power to usb ports when pc is just locked?

I want to keep my desktop pc locked but turned on overnight. My problem is that I have a keyboard and a couple peripherals that emit light. This makes it hard to sleep. I could manually disconnect all of the peripherals every night but there is probably an easier way to just cut power to usb ports in a way that is tied to the event 'user locked'. Any thoughts, or directions in which I should look for the answer? Thanks!

No USB ports recieve power when windows Starts no ps2 ports available

I have this Acer aspire xc-603 desktop that when i turn on i can use the mouse and keyboard in the bios and bootable usb just fine so i suspect that it is a faulty driver or a power setting in windows that cuts power to the usb ports.

When the machine starts loading windows the num lock light on the keyboard goes off and then light on the mouse aswell.

    Troubleshooting steps taken

    • Safe Mode (With and without networking)
    • Restore Points none of them were sucessful
    • sfc scan & Chkdsk in cmd
    • tried all usb ports (3.0 & 2.0)
    • reset bios

I'm trying to avoid reinstalling windows as the user dosn't know their microsoft account for office.

Power Surge on the USB port?

    Hi Bob,

When a user tried uninstalling the USB drivers, it usually installs itself again when the computer restarts. It is a fact that most of the Mouse and Keyboard nowadays are connected using USB connection instead of their traditional PS/2 port. We suggest that
you visit the link provided and follow the steps provided:
USB has malfunctioned and exceeded the power limits of it's hub Port , you should disconnect the device

Kindly let us know if you need further assistance.
