Windows 10: Anybody know about anytime upgrade for Windows 10

I have Windows 7 home premium. I would like to get Windows 10 professional. Anybody know what the options will be? Will they have an anytime upgrade likes Windows 7?

i wanna buy that phone but after reading some statements of too much probs with the express music phone so i think i need to think again.....

if music is important to you, then any Xpressmusic range phone is great, however if you need a good camera as well, then i would suggest buying an N-series phone instead. the only Xpressmusic phone that has a decent camera is the 5610 (that i have), but
still that phone does not have a 3.5mm jack which can be an inconvenience

 

Home premium will get Win10 home.. and Professional will get Win10 Pro

 

Hard to say but probably not. It looks like Home users are getting the standard 10 and only Pro/Ultimate and Enterprise users will get Windows 10 Pro.

I would have said the best bet would be to try the Windows Anytime Upgrade in Control Panel but it has been confirmed by Microsoft (you can search the web) that ever since the release of Windows 8, they have discontinued the Windows anytime upgrade for Windows 7, so there is no way to upgrade the version anymore unfortunately.

 

Yeah, I know that. I am asking what options there are to get up to Windows 10 pro. Windows 7 had the anytime upgrade, like I said. You all sound like I am stuck at home - I am asking what will it cost me to get to pro.

Newegg has OEM versions of 10 Pro for $150 ... but it would be a little less expensive to get Win7 or Win8.1 Pro ($135-$140).

Bit depth shouldn't matter - 32 bit Win7 or Win8.1 Pro are even less expensive ($90-$100). You'd have to read the new licensing, but the bit depth didn't matter before - if you had a license for Win7 or Win8.1 - and.... and you had a retail disc or an ISO, you could install either bit depth. This needs to be explored more before you spend any hard earned cash.

I saw a matrix that showed both WU and ISO upgrade paths - how that's going to work, I'm not sure. It would be great if a Media Creation tool was created as it was for Win8 - download the ISO and install it - the key on the machine is verified or you plug in a license key during the install - no valid key, no install.

Before you make a decision - wait a bit for MS to settle on the details. They might offer fairly inexpensive upgrades in the first month or two. They really want to jack the numbers up early.

Who knows, your Tech Preview Pro might be enough - that would be a nice gesture on the part of MS - to give Insiders not only a free Win10 upgrade but a free Pro upgrade. You deserve something for your part in making Windows better - right? Right!

 

Yes, Windows 10 has the anytime upgrade functionality. Whether or not you can buy a license to upgrade, I don't know.

 

The easiest way would of course be to use the Anytime Upgrade now, upgrading your Windows 7 Home premium to Professional. When you then later upgrade to Windows 10 you would get Windows 10 Pro.

The only issue with this free version is that it needs both the old and new computer connected and on at the same time; even if you would move your data and settings from old installation to a new installation on the same machine, you need to another machine available to first move your data to the second machine, then install the new OS on the first machine and finally move the data back from the second machine to new installation on the first machine.
