App Volume and Device Preferences not persistent (Windows 10 1803)

With the release of Windows 10 1803, I noticed that a virtual audio routing option had been added into the sound preferences to adjust the output device that a particular application should use when applications (like Spotify) that don't let you locally define the output device it should used within it's own settings.

In my case this is more about a Cycle training application called Zwift, but I figured more people would know what Spotify is App Volume and Device Preferences not persistent (Windows 10 1803) :)

This works, however I noticed that once I've closed the Zwift cycle training application and reopened it (even without rebooting the PC), the application audio does not route to the destination that I'd defined in the settings.

Opening the settings shows that the correct, manually defined output device is still selected, but in order to get audio to route to that device, I need to select something different and then re-select the one that I'd originally setup.

Anyone else finding this to be the case also?

    Windows 10 Tweaks

As you may already know, Windows 10 (as well as Windows 8) allow you to log in with a valid Microsoft account, instead of creating a local account that only works on your machine. However, you may prefer to keep a local account for privacy reasons. If you do, though, some Windows 10 features—like Cortana—may not work. Despite the default behavior, the Windows 10 Store is not one of them. You can still log in to your Microsoft account for just the Store without switching to a full Microsoft account. The process, however, is not terribly obvious. To do so, follow these steps:

    • Launch the Store from your Start menu.
    • Click the user icon next to the search box.
    • Click “Sign-in” from the menu that appears.
    • Choose “Microsoft account” and log in like normal.
    • When the “Make it yours” box appears do not enter your password. Instead, click “Sign in to just this app instead.”

Windows 10 1803 doesn't play nice with some Intel SSDs

Legit Reviews is reporting that Windows 10 1803 has issues with some Intel SSDs, specifically their 600p series: "When attempting to upgrade to Window 10 April 2018 Update select devices with certain Intel SSDs may enter a UEFI screen reboot or crash repeatedly." Microsoft and/or Intel are working on a fix.
