Windows 10: Application "Photos" - only photo preview

Hello.

If I have photo files and movies mixed in the folder or loosely on the desktop, the default application "Photos" shows me a preview not only of photos, but also screenshots of the first frames of the movies. How can I change the settings of this application so that it only shows photos and ignores video files.

For example, the default photo viewer in Windows 7 completely ignored video files. Is such a change in the current build of Windows 10 possible, or do I need to look for other third-party photo viewers?

Is this issue specific to Windows Photo Viewer or all applications?

How did you get Windows Photo Viewer back on Windows 10 Technical Preview?

I would suggest you to perform a clean boot and check if it helps.

Clean boot will check if any third party application is causing the issue, as clean boot helps in eliminating software conflicts.

Photos are opening with Paint instead of Photos app

It's likely that your default application for opening photos is Paint. To change your default program in Windows 10 from
Paint to the Photo app, we suggest that you perform the following steps:

• On the Start menu, select Settings.
  
• Go to System, then go to Default apps.
  
• Select Photos or any app that you like to be the default under
  Photo viewer.
