    Application processes getting suspended.


    Hi,


    My system has windows 10 installed with 4th gen processor, 8gb ram, Asus 1050 graphic card, 512GB SSD50% free space available.


    Half of my installed application automatically becomes not responding and then suspended instantly on application usenot on windows startup.

    To name some of the : Intellij IDE, Acrobat reader, intel driver update utility, System configurationone that helps to perform clean/safe boot and so on.....

    I have tried safe boot and all application runs fine; with safe boot I also performed clean boot but issue always be the same when window starts normally.

    Task manager showing suspended processes for cortana

    I see this suspend for other applications as well. How do I get it to run the suspended process? I've got Process Explorer installed, right-click on the process, select resume but nothing seems to happen, e.g. the process remains suspended. Nor am I able to kill the process. I have Windows 1803 installed. It has been over an hour since I noticed the process suspended and it remains in this state.

    Hello MSRandell,

    Sorry it has taken a while to get back to you. I have run some tests with IE open and I do not get either of the 2 iexplore.exe processes suspending even after leaving my system idle for a while. If I close the IE window the iexplore.exe processes become terminated.

    I believe as you have one suspended and it shows as having no threads you must have an app or process on your system which requires iexplorer.exe and it has failed in some way. It will be necessary to do some diagnostic investigation to track down the culprit. To do this you will need to use the Start-up tab in Task Manager to stop various programs starting until you find the one that causes it. If you like you can show a screenview of your Start-up tab and we can make some suggestions. You could also try the clean boot process as explained in the tutorial below:
