Windows 10: Applications keep popping up on my screen

About a week ago, Cortana kept popping up on my screen and telling me she couldn't understand me. I would close it and it would pop up again. I finally figured out how to disable Cortana. However, the problem really didn't go away. Another application then started popping up to the point that I couldn't work. I would close it and it would pop right back up. The problem seemed to go away after a restart but only temporarily. The application that pops up changes all the time now. Sometimes it is chrome. sometimes file manager, it seems to change all the time. I checked to make sure I don't have a stuck key and I don't think I do. I tried to disable the touchpad - uninstalled driver twice but it still seems to work so not sure what I did wrong. I have an HP Envy. Not sure this is a software or hardware problem. What else can I check? Is there a way to tell if a key is stuck or if the touchpad is causing the issue? This problem is driving me nuts. Once it starts, I can't do anything accept to restart. Sometime I have gotten only 20 minutes in before it starts sometimes a couple of hours. The problem is maddening and not sure what else to do? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Application not appearing anywhere on the screen

• How did you downloaded the application is it through windows store or browser?

I would suggest you to check in downloads folder in the file explorer.

Follow the below steps.

• Press windows key + E.
• Click on the This PC.
• Select the download folder & check if application is downloaded.

How to always allow administrator permissions for a specific application

Windows 10 gives users the ability to customize how they run applications. We suggest that you follow the steps below on how to grant administrator permission to a specific application:

• Click the Windows icon on your Windows 10 screen that will open the list of applications. Right click on the specific application that you wish to have an admin permission, click the
  More and click Open file location.
• A new window will open to the location of the program. Right-click on the program and click
  Properties from the pop-up menu.
• In the Properties window, click the Shortcut tab and then click
  Advanced.
• In the Advanced Properties window, check the box next to
  Run as administrator and click OK.
