Windows 10: Apps not working

Hi,


I am running windows 10.

After an update I turned on my computer this morning to find microsoft edge was not working, the icon is still visible on screen but has disappeared from the task bar. I also discovered that my Start menu was not working and the Windows photo and video apps were also not working and I am unable to type in the Cortana dialog box.

I have tried using the repair and reset buttons in settings without success. Trying to open a picture a window opens telling me I need a new app. This also happens when trying to access the Microsoft store. All non microsoft apps are still working.

Any ideas as to what is wrong.

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.
