Windows 10: Apps open as background processes instead of showing on screen WINDOWS 10

HI! So since I bought my new laptop i tried to install some torrent, after a few tries of doing this that didn t work I gave up. Now due to pandemic situation, university forces me to get some apps on my laptop so I got matlab but when I start it after showing some common program before opening screen nothing happens so I started doing research. Turns out it openes as a background process, doesn.t matter how many times I open it, it will stack there at background processes. Found out it.s the same with any torrent program I try to install. Need a solution, I'm desperate, tried everything i cou

Desktop app runs as background process?

I tried what you suggested and unfortunately my application isn't listed there. It's not a Windows 10 app, but an older 32-bit application that should run in windowed mode, but for some reason when I double click its icon it starts as a background process
instead of a windowed app. That happens in most of the cases, fortunately, at the end it somehow starts as a desktop app. But I cannot reproduce this behavior.

As a temporary solution, to keep it in windowed mode I never shut the computer down, but instead I leave the application running and put the computer to sleep.

Is there a setting to instruct Windows to run my application as a desktop application and not as a background process? Thank you.

App Runs as Background Process Instead of as an App

I have successfully installed and run a screen share app on both of my desktops. But, on my laptop, when I open the app, it runs as a background process instead of as an app (as seen in Task Manager). All 3 systems are running Windows 10 Pro. So, to be clear, I WANT THE APP TO NOT RUN AS A BACKGROUND PROCESSS. I need it to run as an app (which is what it's supposed to do) so I can use it. I've talked with the app provider's tech support people, uninstalled (and cleaned it out of the registry) several times..all with no success. Any help is appreciated.

• Were there any updates made on your computer prior to this concern?
  • The laptop is fully updated.
• What troubleshooting steps have you taken so far to resolve this?
  • I have gone into the background app settings and turned off this feature and closed these apps.
• When did the issue first begin?
  • I only just recently noticed this when I was "fooling around" with the MSI True Color app and found it showed apps these apps. As I closed an app, it would affect the Cascade windows, Show windows stacked
    and Show windows side-by-side, by allowing the window I want to take full screen to take more and more of the screen. These apps, while open in the background, would be equally be affected.
