Windows 10: Are OCR and Handwriting zh-hk language modules obsolete in Windows 10?

Sysadmin here tasked with rolling out installations of Windows 10 with zh-hk (Hong Kong) language options.


On MSDN images of Build 17763.379 and also Build 18362.30, I was able to dism-integrate these packages from the corresponding Language Pack into install.wim:


microsoft-windows-languagefeatures-basic-zh-hk-package-amd64.cab

microsoft-windows-languagefeatures-speech-zh-hk-package-amd64.cab

microsoft-windows-languagefeatures-texttospeech-zh-hk-package-amd64.cab



These packages will not integrate. Instead the error comes up with something about missing source files:

microsoft-windows-languagefeatures-handwriting-zh-hk-package-amd64.cab

microsoft-windows-languagefeatures-ocr-zh-hk-package-amd64.cab




Even more, on fresh installations, it is observed that the zh-hk language features can be manually activated, however the modules for handwriting and ocr will not download properly, always hanging around the 1% mark



Are the Handwriting and OCR modules of zh-HK no longer being supported by Microsoft? If so, please remove those options from the Language Settings panel.

Windows 10 bug of setting the ZH-HK as the primary language

OK. I found a solution.

1. create directory zh-hk under C:\WINDOWS\System32\zh-hk

2. copy ChtAP.sdc and chtzhy.spd from
C:\WINDOWS\System32\zh-hk to C:\WINDOWS\System32\zh-hk\zh-hk

3. create directory zh-tw under C:\WINDOWS\System32\zh-tw

4. copy ChtAP.sdc and chtzhy.spd from
C:\WINDOWS\System32\zh-tw to C:\WINDOWS\System32\zh-tw\zh-tw

Ran "sfc /scannow", you should have "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."

I found that the windows 10 has an issue. I have upgraded windows 10 from 1703 and 1709. My Language was using Hong Kong Chinese. After upgraded to 1709. I have ran "sfc /scannow". I have found that there are cbs.log display an error as following:

I have tried to new install the windows 10 1709 and run "sfc /scannow" again it still display this error.

Any advice for it?

I have the same issue. Funny enough I do not even want the language pack installed currently - it tries to add it nevertheless and then complains and I have the same entries from sfc

... but the problem is never fixed.
