    Argh. Windows Recovery partition woes

So just before the push of the RTM build of 2004 to slow ring, I had deleted my recovery partition. It caused me some issues due to being at the beginning of all my partitions and I was under the impression it would be re-added at the end of the drive upon upgrading to 2004. I was ecstatic to find out that was the case. Problem solved, or so i thought.

Today I went to create a recovery drive, and was immediately told it cant, that some required files are missing.

A quick reagentc /info shows the following

My other pc which had the exact same operation performed (removal of recovery partition) had done the same upgrade to 2004, and the newly end-added RE is enabled/working fine etc.

The odd part is that disk management shows it as barren/empty

Macrium on the other hand shows it as properly filled with data

and as such, if i use macrium to mount that partition - it includes

So can someone get this straightened out for me? I dont want to have to move/delete/create a new partition for recovery, id like to get it back to working exactly how it should have been had windows done this itself like it did on my other pc. (assuming thats possible)

what i found via google, resulted in the following

    How To: Create recovery partition.

it worked when i copied all the files of the disk to the recovery partition i created, but i had to use WinPE tab to add the entry.

    Type: WIM Image (Ramdisk)
    Name: Recovery
    Path: Z:\Sources\boot.wim
    and hit Add Entry
I tried it in VirtualBox and it worked.
At first, it would add a second "Windows 7" entry to the list, but when the installation is finished, the old one is deleted. (I formatted only C: partition)
