Argument added to target for WSL GUI app shortcut keeps reseting

I have a shortcut to launch a Linux GUI app created by Windows. The problem is that this app displays a black window unless I added arguments to the end of the command. I've been able to successfully add these arguments to the target field for the shortcut's properties and close the properties window and launch the app successfully, but it seems like after I restart my computer the target resets back to the original value. The target as created by Windows is: "C:\Program Files\WSL\wslg.exe" -d Ubuntu --cd "~" -- /usr/share/gitkraken/gitkrakenAnd I'm trying to change it to:"C:\Program Files\WSL\

    :)

  2. PSA: Windows 10 Start Menu Refuses to Display Shortcuts with Arguments Specified in the Target Entry

    Hello,

I noticed peculiar behavior in Windows 10 where Majesty Gold HD's shortcut would not show up in the Start Menu even though the shortcut was clearly present in the Start Menu folders ("C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\"
    and "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs").

It turns out that because the shortcut has an argument (-blitmovietobackground) in the target entry, it does not show up. If I open the shortcut's properties and remove the argument from the target entry like so:

    Original:

    "C:\GOG Games\Majesty Gold HD\MajestyHD.exe" -blitmovietobackground

    Edited:

    "C:\GOG Games\Majesty Gold HD\MajestyHD.exe"

...Start Menu then immediately detects and displays the shortcut.

This same issue occurs on all my Windows 10 PCs, which are currently loaded with Fall Creators Update.
This is particularly problematic since I would like to access this program shortcut with the specified launch arguments so I can watch the in-game footage.

This could be one of the reasons why many people's shortcuts do not show up after upgrading to Windows 10. In addition, many programs need arguments in their shortcuts to run as expected and properly so this issue needs to be resolved.

Edit App Tile Targets in Windows 8.1?

I have a client that caught a nasty piece of malware. It changed the targets on all the IE shortcuts so whenever you run IE it takes you to their website instead of the homepage set in IE's options(it did the same thing to chrome and firefox).

Fixing it on most of the shortcuts was easy. I just edited the target path by right clicking on the shortcut and going to properties and resetting it to the right path.

However, the shortcut/tile on the start screen for IE can't be edited in this way. When I right click on it there is no option to change the properties of the shortcut. I've search for a good hour trying to figure out how to edit the properties of these shortcuts/tiles but I can't find it anywhere. I even went as far as uninstalling IE and re-installing it, and the icons it put back are still pointing to the wrong path.

Anyone have any clue how to change the path for Windows 8.1 app shortcuts on the Start Screen?
