Windows 10: Aspect Ratio suddenly changed

I know that this is a problem with aspect ratio and not resolution, first and foremost. And I know that this isn't a problem with installing Windows 10 because I did that ages ago. I literally went to go leave my room, and then I came back and my screen is now just a display of square. Instead of filling the whole screen which is 16:9 I think?, on either side it has about 2" black bars on the sides, making the display just an actual square. I tried to check advanced setting in the control panel, and it says "this display does not support any of the advanced settings." I have no clue what to

My display has suddenly changed aspect ratio, becoming tall and slim. Control panel shows set to 1920 x 1080.

I understand your concern, make sure you are logged in as admin. After that please follow the steps below and check the aspect ratio.

  Right click on Desktop.

  Click on Personalize.
  
• 
  Advanced display settings,
  
• 
  Display Adapter properties
  
• 
  Monitor>scaling>Change Aspect Ratio.

Change monitor aspect ratio
