Does anyone have access to an ASRock X299 Taichi block diagram?

I'm adding a x4 PCIe USB 3.1 Gen2 adapter card to connect two external USB enclosures.

I know the motherboard already has a Type-A and Type-C, but I'm having lots of grief with the type-C port. The adapter will help me isolate the problem. Plus I have 3 external boxes now, and since the motherboard only has 10 SATA ports and my case is full, I can't add any more internal drives.

Anyway, The graphics card is in PCIe3x1. There is an ASUS XG-C100C, an x4 card in PCIe3x3

According to the manual if I use PCIe slots 1,3 and 5 I'll end up with x8/x0/x8/x0/x8. That's fine - the PC is a server and I don't need x16 for graphics.

The CPU is an I7-7820X, which has 28 lanes. I assume one of the M.2 slots comes from the CPU, which should mean I'll be OK?

    Can any one confirm?

    :)

From the specs of your Motherboard at Asus

    Z97-A | Motherboards | ASUS USA

You are going to have to enable it in BIOS and probably disable the PCIeX1_1 and 2 slots. I suspect there is an option in BIOS for boot from PCIe.
