Windows 10: ASUS Laptop Randomly Restarting

I have an ASUS K501U that was given to me from a relative when they received a new computer. I booted it up and trying to do anything the computer would restart randomly. I thought there would be a virus or other problem so I took to Microsoft and explained the problem. They suggested they would wipe the computer clean. New install of Windows 10.


The laptop still randomly restarts. Blue screen pops up with a frowny face and saying 'You're computer needs to Restart' and immediately goes into loading timing of a restart. I have not installed anyapplications, drivers, programs, etc. Even just running Explorer to ask this question it restarted and I had to ask from another device.


Looking at diagnostics, the battery runs great and I don't see any issues with bus, motherboard, or memory. Nothing running at an abnormal temp.


No precious files so willing to do whatever I can to have this laptop work!! Mainly need for Word documents and Office and won't be running high demanding software college student--any help greatly appreciated!

ASUS Laptop randomly restarts

schedule to restart your PC be following the steps below:

• Press Windows key + I to open Settings.
• Click Update & security.
• Look for Restart options and click it.
• Set the schedule for the time when you want your PC to restart and install the updates.

If the suggested steps above do not resolve your concern, you may also want to run the
Power troubleshooter to check for any incorrect power settings which may cause such. To do so, please do these steps:

• Access the Control Panel of your computer.
  
• In the Control Panel Search field, type troubleshooting.
• Click Troubleshooting.
• Under System and Security, click Improve power usage.
  
• Click Next to run the troubleshooting tool.

ASUS Laptop randomly restarts

I have an Asus laptop N551JB that will restart randomly. It mostly happens over night while i am out of the office. I don't close the lid and the setting for sleep are to never go to sleep while plugged into mains power. It is very painful because if I haven't
saved any documents I have been working on they are not saved when it decides to restart.. Any Ideas?
