I tried downloading Ccleaner. The website I used said it was the "Official Website." (Who knows?)
Before I knew it, I was downloading something called "ChilliTorrents." After the download was over, I found out that I had also downloaded "Chromium." I was informed that Google Chromium was now my Home Page.

Additionally, software called "Spotify" appeared on my Task Bar. I deleted it, but it somehow came back.

I also discovered that I had downloaded an anti-virus called "ByteFence Anti-Malware 3.18.0.0."

I was able to uninstall "ChilliTorrents," and "Chromium." I don't know if I should uninstall ByteFence Anti-Malware. I got rid of Spotify again, but I fear that it will reappear.

I did not see any sign of "Ccleaner" after I started the download.

Used to be that you had to go out on the streets after Midnight to get rolled; now you can get rolled sitting in your living room in your pajamas with all of the doors locked.

I have decided to set up two computers: one for the Internet, and one that is for writing and not connected to the Internet.

    Please try this direct link.
Once successful, let me know so I can delete it:

Sounds like you have some redirector (and possibly a trojan) going on there.
Have you run ADWCleaner ? If not, I suggest you do it now.
    Direct link, once again:

    Downloads - AdwCleaner - ToolsLib

Ccleaner downloaded and installed OK. Google Chrome downloaded with it. Is keeping Google Chrome just an option?

I remember you from two years or so ago when you saved my computer that was totaling jammed up because of multi-viruses. I still owe you one from then. I'll do a Rep now.

I'll get rid of ByteFence Anti-Malware right now.

    Thanks for the help.

Thanks. I will remove that link now, since you've got it.
Chrome should have been "unchecked" prior to install, but that's okay - you can remove it now.
Please check all the boxes for each browser installed on the system and clean them all, whether you use them or not. Note you will lose any saved passwords.
    Thanks for the rep! *Smile

Please also let me know when you've got ADWCleaner downloaded, so I can remove that link as well. I can't leave direct download links in a thread, because they are dynamic, and when they change, we get broken links in the forum - causes a mess.

OK, it downloaded and installed OK.

I just noticed that ADWCleaner is with my Downloads but not listed in the Control Panel. I pinned in to the Start Window. Everything is OK.

    Thanks again.

I am marking this thread as Solved. As the saying goes: There are many ways to skin a cat. The posters offered many ways to defeat the Tech Support Scams, and, I'm sure, each one of them would have been effective. I chose one of them, and I'll wait to see how things go.

I chose to install Ccleaner and ADWCleaner as well as switching my Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Account to this computer from the one that developed two bad capacitors.

In a time-frame of only 24 hours, I was offered several options, and I can now proceed with the security of knowing that I will be able to defeat this type of Scam in short order.

My thanks to all of the Forum Members who contributed to this thread. I'm sure I'll be back for more of your advice regarding other matters.

    @dmholt57 @simrick @zbook

Thanks for the additional options, dmholt57. The Tech Support Scam (SupportScam:JS/TechBrolo.F) appeared again today at the same time it did yesterday: 4:30 pm EST. The Ccleaner got rid of it right away. Windows Defender said it was in the Trojan Category.

I just gave you a Rep; I owed one more for all the advice you gave in helping me gain access to the Internet. On one point, you agreed with @Samuria that the DNS Figures should be changed, and that may have been a critical aspect in gaining Internet access.

    Thanks again for your help.
