Windows 10: Audio drive problems, is it be repaired?

Press the Windows and "R" keys simultaneously on the computer, type "devmgmt.msc" into the "Open" box and click "OK". Expand "Network Adapters", right-click the adapter, select "Update driver", click "Browse my computer for driver software", then "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer". If a driver is found, install it.

Pls help as I'm quite new at this and I find online tutorials too complicated, so:
just bought a new cheap laptop with win10 pre installed. there was lots of preinstalled stuff on it, so I searched it up and apparently resetting was the best option to clear it. storage shrunk to from 27 11GB so was quite happy, but then noticed the sound thing in the task bar had a red x on it (it was working ok before the reset). searched this problem and *apparently* best thing to do was finding the audio drive and remove it, restart and windows would resinstall it. but it didn't. Now when I run troubleshoot all it says is there's a missing audio drive, but no info re: how and where I can find it.
Is this problem going to resolve eventually as the computer updates or is this a bit more complicated? Is there a specific one I could use instead of running all updates?

I had same problem, and finally i found out that the problem occurs when I played the audio file in One Drive.

I remove & reinstall the drive, and don't play audio file in One Drive anymore. Problem has gone, strange!

 

start menu stopped working

Cannot get start menu to pop up. Worked till yesterday, now won't. Turned off computer and back on - still won't work

 

First thought, go to the PC vendor's site and download the correct sound driver. However, usually Windows will install the generic, basic function, High Definition audio driver so there are more problems. It sounds like the new install did not go correctly as one of the things Windows will install during the installation is the motherboard chipset drivers. If the chipset drivers are not installed then some devices can be missing as one of the things the chipset drivers do is identify all the devices on the motherboard.

Suggest you start over and do another "clean" install.
Follow the instructions from the forum tutorial.

True on a proper install. However, since Windows apparently didn't install either the correct hardware sound driver or the generic High Definition Audio driver and provide sound, it sounds like the install is corrupted and needs a correct install.

Thanks . Makes sense as I can no longer so a reset (there’s a problem but it doesn’t tell you what it is) .this tutorial looks really scary can I defo do it if I’ve never done this sort of things?

 

followed tutorials , got windows on usb , then installed .. this has made things worse actually. No network connection. How do I go back to previous version?

 

Like was mentioned earlier, you should visit the manufacturer site and download drivers.

 

Hi, thank you but wont it be impossible now as I can’t go online? Basically all I can do now is use the puter to charge my phone. Is there anything I can do to fix it offline? I can see previous version of windows in my temp files , is this something I can access?
