Audio is out of sync on browsers

Hi. I hope someone can help me.

For about 8-12 weeks, I have been having a problem with watching videos online and streaming videos. It doesn't matter which site I am on, Youtube, Liveleak, CNN (or any of the news sites), streaming live sites, the audio goes out of sync within 15-20secs after starting to watch.

Initially I thought this was a browser problem, so I switched from Firefox to Chrome. I noticed the same problem there too so I switched to Opera, then Vivaldi and finally Edge, to no avail, the audio still went out of sync after 15 or so seconds. The whole thing cycles round and is synced after about 2-3 minutes, depending on the length of the video. This is only for videos. If I am watching a movie from Amazon Prime, or some other streaming media, then the sync goes out and stays out. There is a difference of 1 - 3 secs between the audio and the video, meaning, I hear something before seeing the cause of the sound, ie, if I'm watching a cricket match then I hear the bat hitting the ball then a couple of secs later I see the batsman hit the ball but the audio is then silent.

I thought it might have to do with having an out of date flash driver, so I updated it, but that didn't help. I deleted and re-installed the browsers and that didn't help.

Here is the thing. I run a dual boot system, Windows 10 Pro 64bit and OpenSuse Linux. When I boot up on Linux, I do not have that problem at all.

My conclusion is that the problem lies with windows. So I was hoping that someone knows something about this or even has a solution for this.

My windows system is: Windows 10 Pro 64bit ver. 1703 build 15063.413. I have two HDD's, each 2TB, and have 16GB RAM, with a Intel Core i7 processor.

    Thanks.

    :)

N95 Recorded Video: Video and audio is out of sync

Yes while editing separate the audio channel from the clip and reinsert at the begining of the clip. This will minimise sync issues. To get accurate sync increase the timeline so that you are able to the see audio squiggles as a waveform.

I've seen this issue, but it's not so critical for me. It doesn't happen 100% of the time or in most situations it's very hard to see.

You can edit videos on your PC, just converting them to AVI then using any Video Editor on the PC.

Reinstall/replace the audio input/output driver to see if any difference.

I'm having the exact problem silkmaze has. I'm wondering if anyone found a solution for this.
    My specs are:
    Intel Kaby Lake i7 7700K / GIGABYTE GA-Z270X-Ultra Gaming motherboard/Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 16GB DDR4 3000MHz CL15/GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1060 Windforce OC 6GB DDR5 192-bit/Realtek Audio.

I've tried uninstalling the audio driver, installing the latest from their website to no effect. Also the Audio Troubleshooter din't help me. I've tried latencymon but did not report any latency issues.

Here are a few screenshots that shows system temperatures:

After countless hours of research and troubleshooting I finally found the culprit. It seems that BenQ's Display Pilot causes this audio lag for whatever reason. Here are the steps I made to find the solution:
    • uninstallled and reinstalled every driver of every component
    • checked system/cpu/temperature -- all in nominal/normal values/
    • reinstalled a fresh copy of windows
    • one-by-one I disabled every program that ran at startup (this led me to BenQ's Display Pilot)
I did not even suspected that something that has to do with my display would even cause this issue.

Sorry I have been away on business for a while.

I am still having the problem of the audio being out of sync on youtube. I have upgraded to the latest version of Firefox (57) as well as upgrading Opera and Chrome. The problem is still there. I start playing a video on youtube and after a minute or so the audio starts going out of sync, to the extent that the audio is about 2-3 seconds ahead of the video.

I thought, initially, that it had to be the fault of Firefox. But after trying it out with Opera and Chrome and encountering the same problem, I decided to run last test and decided to watch youtube on a different program.

I wanted to be absolutely sure that the problem lay with windows, so I used Gom Player Pro to stream a youtube video. I did this several times, and each time I got the same result. The audio went out of sync after a minute or so.

I am at a bit of a loss as to what to do. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

    Thank you.

I am pretty sure this is a Windows problem, since a Mac Air that we have doesn't have the same problem. Neither do the android tablets nor the android cell phones.

I went as far, with Firefox, as disabling ALL the addons I use and started FF, opened a tab and went over to youtube and played several videos. The problem was still there. I have discovered that the problem has now started to affect any videos I play in Facebook and Twitter.
The problem even exists when I stream videos on to GOM Player.

I really hope that someone has a solution.

Right, then. I have no idea why but the problem has cleared up. Not just on Firefox Quantum but on Opera and Chrome. It could be that FF was updated, but that wouldn't effect Chrome or Opera. But I just checked and saw that there was a windows update a few days ago. Maybe that had something to do with it.

  11. The exact symptoms you have described started happening to me about 4 days ago. Still happening now and there are no new updated available for Windows.

I honestly couldn't tell you why this happens. I had the problem with all the browsers I have installed, including IE. It worked fine when I booted up into linux and opened up youtube on FF. It also worked on my wife's MacAir, as well as my Android tablet.

I went as far as disabling all my add-ons in FF but that didn't help either.

    Then, suddenly, it worked.

I don't know what to tell you. Try getting in touch with Microsoft support directly. They might have an answer for us.
