Windows 10: Audio is playing through my mic and I don't know why..

As the title says, my headset is playing audio through the mic, like all my friends talking, games I'm playing, videos I'm watching all of it. And it's playing through Dsicord, and gamechats, even when the mic itself is muted.

What do I do? I feel like I've tried everything and nothing has worked...

Also I'm putting this under Devices and Drivers cause I'm trying to find something else that Headsets/mics can go under but this, and the Performance one was the only one's I could think to put it under.

I been having trouble with the volume in the mic settings. I tried all I know please help.

This is the three devices that are under the "Sounds, video, and game controllers" tab:

• AMD High Definition Audio Device
• CyberLink Webcam Virtual Drivers
• Realtek High Definition Audio

Under the "Audio input and output" tab:

• Mic in at front panel (black) (Realtek High Definition Audio)
• Microphone (Realtek High Definition Audio)
• Realtek HD Output 2nd output (Realtek High Definition Audio)
• Speaker/HD (Realtek High Definition Audio)

I use microphone headset to talk to people while playing an online game. The program I use is "Ventrilo". I tried the steps you posted and the mic volume is still muting automatically.

 

No sound while playing audio and video files.

I appreciate if you could answer to a few questions to narrow down to the issue.

• Which is the application that you are using to play the files?
• Did you try the same on a different player?
• Did you perform any troubleshooting steps?

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to check if the volume is set low or in mute state in Volume Mixer.

• Right click on sound icon.
• Open Volume Mixer check for the application that you are playing the files with and increase the volume and check.

If the issue still persists, I would suggest you to run “Playing audio” troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the issue.

Follow these Steps to run Playing Audio Troubleshooter in Windows 10.

1. Type troubleshooting in the search bar.

2. Select Troubleshooting.

3. Select View all on the top left corner.

4. Click on Playing audio.
