Windows 10: Audio Issues while playing games

Whenever I try playing Rainbow 6 siege or Overwatch my game audio does this weird thing where it cuts in and out. So far it only happens on these two games and I think its a problem with my audio drivers. I disabled some of the other audio devices on my computer because it kept detecting it as being plugged in and it channeled audio into there instead of my headset. Additionally, when I look at the Multimedia Audio Controller it says the drivers for that device isn't installed and all the information on it is either Unknown or not available.

Edit: I think all my drivers are just outdated in general

No sound while playing audio and video files.

Hi,

I appreciate if you could answer to a few questions to narrow down to the issue.

• Which is the application that you are using to play the files?
• Did you try the same on a different player?
• Did you perform any troubleshooting steps?

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to check if the volume is set low or in mute state in Volume Mixer.

• Right click on sound icon.
• Open Volume Mixer check for the application that you are playing the files with and increase the volume and check.

If the issue still persists, I would suggest you to run “Playing audio” troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the issue.

Follow these Steps to run Playing Audio Troubleshooter in Windows 10.

1. Type troubleshooting in the search bar.

2. Select Troubleshooting.

3. Select View all on the top left corner.

4. Click on Playing audio.

Audio issues when playing games (crackling/popping)

We appreciate for trying the few of the troubleshooting steps.

1) Which version of DirectX is installed in the PC?

Since the issue is occurring only while playing games, I would suggest you to install the graphic drivers in compatibility mode.

Now download the drivers the manufacturer website and install it in Windows 8.1 compatibility mode. Follow the steps provided below to install the drivers in compatibility mode:

• Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’.
• Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select Windows 8.1 operating system from the drop down.
• Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

I also recommend you to update the latest version of Direct X and run the hardware an device troubleshooter.

Run hardware troubleshooter and check if it helps.

• Type Troubleshooting in search box and open it.
• Click on Hardware and Sound
  
• Click on Hardware and Devices.
  
• Follow the instruction.
