Windows 10: Audio lag on speakers unless it is set as default device AND default communication

Discus and support Audio lag on speakers unless it is set as default device AND default communication in Windows 10 Drivers and Hardware to solve the problem; I want my headset to be the default communication but this causes sound lag when i watch things with sound through my speaker....     I want my headset to be the default communication but this causes sound lag when i watch things with sound through my speaker.

    Speaker turns into default communication device when plugged into front audio panel

    After installing windows 10 I encountered a problem with my audio.

    • In windows 8.1, my speaker when plugged into either rear or front audio jack, would be registered as "default device"
    • I in windows 10, when I plug my speaker into the front jack it is registered as "default communication device".
    • However, when I plug it in the rear jack it registers as "default device".

    This is a problem as my rear jack is broken and I have been using the front jack.

    Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Set new audio device default for volume mixer in Windows 10

    I use two audio devices:

    • Default (audio) device "Realtec Digital Output (Optical)"
    • Default communication device "Lautsprecher (Speaker)"

    My goal:
    I want to have the default audio volume on my default communication device, instead of the default device - at all times.

    What I tried so far:
    Changing the volume mixer to my communication device explicitly works temporary, but as soon as I close the settings window, the default audio volume is reset again to the default audio device.

    Step 1: Clicking on volume shows me the default device:

    Step 2: Changing the volume mixer to my communication device manually:

    Hello all,

    The installation of my wavecyclic audio driver on Win 10 makes it the default communication device. This behavior is observed only on win 10, but not on win 8 or 7. Nothing specific is being done on our installer/driver to set it as default communication device. Any suggestions on why this is happening and on how to not make our driver become default communication device? I appreciate your help.
