Audio louder than usual until volume is changed

I uninstalled the drivers and installed the latest...from July 2015 instead of June 2015...from Dell. I know other people said that didn't work for them, but I though I'd try it. All of my Maxx Audio stuff appeared, so it looks like I got a successful install. And so far it works. We'll see.

  2. Let us know if the spikes return. The Dell driver I uninstalled (which came with the PC) included MaxxAudio Pro, but the one I replaced it with (which I thought had the same version number, but maybe not) does not show MaxxAudio Pro, which I believe is a Dell custom add-on. I DO have MaxxAudio functionality with the new driver, but the Dell add-on called "Pro" no longer shows up in my Control Panel. I don't care, because the new driver solved the issue of volume spikes, and my audio still has that MaxxAudio high quality.

    Hi all,

It seems as of today , the problem is fixed for me.
    I've tested this thoroughly.

And I haven't done anything recently...
I haven't installed or updated any system drivers after posting in this thread.

    What was updated today:
    -Windows 10 automatic updates
    -Chrome updated to 46.0.2490.86 m

So either the general coding of youtube was altered in order to fix this issue
or the automatic Windows updates did the trick.

Anyways I'm not experiencing any changes in volume anymore when using the volume slider.

    How about you guys/gals?

  4. Audio louder than usual until volume is changed

About two weeks after I upgraded to Win 10, the problem with the audio spikes on iTunes and YouTube videos returned.
I fixed it quickly by going to my Device Manager, then to "Sound, video and game controllers," then to Realtek High Definition Audio, then to "Driver," and finally to "Update Driver." Then I click to "search automatically for updated drivers."

Before updating to Win 10, that always came back with a message saying I already have the most up-to-date driver installed. But this time, it found a new driver, downloaded it and installed it. Then restarted the PC.

Problem solved, no more audio spikes.

Just thought this might help anyone else who has had these issues.

I still have the problem on my asus rog G751!
And not only for youtube video, for all sounds from all sources, until i tweak the cursor a bit, the song is ****ing high.
I already updated the realtek driver to the newest verion and chrome is updated too (but the bug is everywhere)

If some guys still have the problem or find a solution, it could be cool!

    Thank

There is a utility, Sound Lock, that monitors and audio level and automatically reduces it to a preset level. Download and install it, start some music playing and then set your preferred level. The utility will make sure to suppress any sound that tries to pass this level so you never hear a louder sound again, unless you increase the level yourself. Other posters in this thread with your problem used it successfully. It is not the ideal solution, but works well until you can solve it with updated drivers or otherwise.

my solution was to not use realtek driver at all, even the newest driver had the same issue.

i just use generic w10 audio driver now, seems to work well.

update realtek driver - choose from list - high definition audio driver.

Thanks for that tip - I've been having this problem with the Realtek driver, and installing the generic driver fixed it - I wasn't using the fancy Realtek features anyway, so it's an ideal fix for me.

I updated my Realtek driver from
    24/06/2015
    6.0.1.7544
    to
    05/10/2015
    6.0.1.7628

I have just restarted my Dell laptop and it seems to have fixed the problem
problem returned 6 months later fixed now in System Notifications

Solved How to turn off notification sound when headphones are plugged in

Open Settings – select System – Notifications & Actions – scroll down to Show Notifications from these apps – select Realtek HD Audio Manager (click app do not toggle off on) – Turn toggle off “Play sound when a notification arrives”

Nice to find this thread! Although it sucks that so many are having this problem, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one.

sortvind, how did you go about getting Windows to use the generic drivers? Just uninstalling the Realtek is enough?

damienf, do you have a link to those October 5, 2015 drivers? If not, I'll try and search for them when I get home.

If you uninstall the official Realtek drivers from Programs and Features, and then restart, Windows should install the generic Microsoft drivers. Otherwise, from Device Manager right click on the audio device and select update drivers.

i also prevented windows update from managing drivers using a guide here *Smile
