  1. "Audio Service Not Responding" Windows 10

I recently accidentally uninstalled Realtek HD Audio Manager after reinstalling I found that my audio had stopped working completely with the troubleshoot coming up with "Audio Service Not Responding".

I have tried: uninstalling and reinstalling realtek multiple times v2.81 & 2.82, making sure all the essential audio services are checked and running automatically, using the cmd prompt to add network and local service, using the system properties to check for any changes to hardware and yet nothing seems to work.

Any alternative suggestions would really be helpful, I can't find anything online that I haven't already tried.

    :)

    Audio service not responding

    Hello,

The audio on my computer isn't working. I've run Troubleshooter and this is what comes up:

Audio services not responding Not fixed

One or more audio service isn't running Completed

Both the Windows audio and Windows Audio End Point Builder services

must be running or audio to work correctly. At least one of these services isn't

    running.

    Suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Elda

  3. Audio Services are not running / responding.

    Charlie,

The Audio services not responding problem is very likely due to an outdated, corrupted or incompatible audio driver on your Windows. I'd like to ask, what do you mean by "to
boot in safe mode and or clean boot / wipe the system and that wouldn't be possible in my current situation"? Are you connected via domain server? Are you getting any error messages when you try to boot into safe mode and perform a clean boot?

In the meantime, I suggest that you follow these steps:

Step # 1: Restart your audio services.

    1. Press Windows key + R and then type services.msc and click OK.
    2. Find and right-click on "Windows Audio", then click Restart.
    3. Right-click on Windows Audio one more time, this time click Properties.
    4. Set the Startup type to Automatic. Click Apply > OK.
    5. Do the same thing to "Windows Audio Endpoint Builder".
Note: If the Restart option grayed out, your Windows Audio Endpoint Builder service is not running, click Start instead.

Step # 2: Uninstall the audio driver in the Device Manager. Open Device Manager> Sound, video and game controllers> Right click the driver> Properties> Driver tab> Uninstall Device> Restart
your PC, and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

Note: If the same issue persists after reinstalling the driver, please contact the audio card manufacturer's website and find and download the correct drivers for your device. Then install it on your computer manually.

    Audio Services not responding

    Hello Grady,

Regarding the "The Audio service is not running" issue, please first try start the Windows Audio service by the steps below:

    1. Click the Start Button, type "services.msc" (without quotation marks) in the Search Bar and press Enter to start Services.

    2. In the right pane, please check whether the Windows Audio service is started.

    3. If not, please double click the service. In the tab "General ", make sure the "Startup Type" is "Automatic". Then please click the button "Start" under "Service Status" to start this service.

If the service cannot be started, please also check the following services:

    • Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
    • Multimedia Class Scheduler
    • Windows Audio Endpoint Builder

If it still does not help, there can be any of the two scenarios we are looking at:

    • Windows settings are corrupt
    • Possible hardware of driver issues.

For the first scenario, refer to the below methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1

This issue may happen due to system file corruption. I suggest you to run System file checker. System File checker (SFC) scan is done to check if there are any corrupted system files that could be causing this issue. Kindly follow
    the below given steps:

    • Press Windows key + X, select
Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command prompt.

    • In Command prompt type
      sfc /scannow
      and press enter.

    • Restart the computer.

    in Windows 10

    Method 2

If no corrupted system files were found in the previous state or were irrecoverable, then I suggest you to try the following steps to deploy the DISM command lines:

    • Press Windows key + X.

    • Click command prompt (Run as administrator).

    • In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type the following commands. Press Enter key after each command:

      DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

      DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

Important: When you run this command, DISM uses Windows Update to provide the files that are required to fix corruptions.

    • To close the Administrator: Command prompt window, type Exit, and then press Enter.

      Click
      here
for more information about running the DISM Tool.

To address issues related to second scenario, Press
Windows logo + R > type devmgmt.msc and press Enter to open Device Manager.

Double click on your audio driver under Sound, video and game controllers section in
Device Manager. Then Click on Driver tab and select Rollback.

Important: If your drive is performing well and there is no error, Rollback driver button will be grayed out as an option.

If it still does not help, completely uninstall and reinstall the drivers.

Write to us with the updated status related to audio issues in Windows, for us to be able to asssit you further.

    Thank You.
