  1. Audio Services, Windows Updates & Network Configuration

So I'm having a couple of problems with my PC and Windows at the minute. One problem has linked to another.

It all started a while back when my audio services Windows Audio stopped working. The audio service was not starting up and wouldn't start up when I attempted to manually start it. The following error was shown:

Windows could not start the Windows Audio service on Local Computer.

    Error 0x80070005: Access is denied.

I searched the error code up and got this:

Error Code 0x80070005—also known as ‘Access Denied’ error—is related to Windows updates. It occurs when the system or user lacks the required files or permissions to change settings at the time of Windows update. As a result, Windows update installation is aborted, and the user starts to experience issues like system slow down, abrupt system restart, and crash—Blue Screen of Death BSOD.

I've been experiencing the 'Blue Screen of Death' quite a lot lately - it mainly happens when I leave my PC idle for around 10 minutes, with programs running. My Avast Cleanup tool alerted me that Windows had not been updated for a long period of time. I checked the updates and it displays that, "Your device is missing important security and quality fixes." and that "Security Intelligence Update for Windows Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 Version 1.307.1639.0" is available. I click "Download" and it quickly changes from "Status: Downloading 0%" to "Status: Pending download".

I searched up why I wasn't able to download the update and I found a thread on the Microsoft Community this thread to be exact: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...grade-to/dda53c38-cbcf-49cc-bf15-f6046923bab4. The person who answered the question said that they had trouble connecting to Microsoft Edge as their Windows thought it wasn't connected to the internet when it was. I also had the issue of not being able to use Microsoft Edge, the Microsoft Store, the Microsoft Feeback Hub, etc. all Windows applications. I tried to reset my network settings which is what the answer to the question said to do. I did this and I'm now able to connect to the Microsoft Store and Microsoft Edge. There are a couple of Windows applications that won't load for me though. In addition, the internet status icon on the right of the taskbar shows the icon that would suggest that I am not connected to the internet. I'm connected to my network, but it says "No internet, secured", yet here I am, on the internet, browsing Google Chrome perfectly normally. Before the network reset, it said I was connected as normal. I've since tried to reset the network settings again, but no luck.

I feel like all these issues are interlinked in some way. With the current lockdown restrictions, I can't take my laptop to a computer store or anything and see what they think so I'm relying on the community! I'd really appreciate any help.

    :)

  2. After running Audio troubleshooter error: 'one or more audio service isn't running'

    Hi Peter,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community, we appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

As you receive the error message: 'one or more audio service isn't running', this might have occurred due to the audio services.

I suggest you to restart the service, set it to automatic and check if it helps.

Step 1: Stop the Windows Audio service.

    • Press Windows Key + R on the keyboard and type
      services.msc
      , Services window gets opened.
    • Search for Windows Audio service, right click on it and click on
      Stop.
    • Restart the computer.

Step 2: Start the service and set it to automatic:

    • Press Windows Key + R on the keyboard and type
      services.msc
      , Services window gets opened.
    • Search for Windows Audio service, right click on it and click on
      Properties.

      Startup type to Automatic.

  4. AsRock Win User

Audio Services, Windows Updates & Network Configuration

    Windows Updates failed to instal

I'm not sure how differant XP media center Edition is but you could clear the history \ cache if these folders are there.

    Step 1 Register DLL files.

    =================

By trying this step, we can check if the update engines are working properly.

    1. Close all instances of Internet Explorer.

    2. Click Start and Run, type "Regsvr32 atl.dll" (without quotes) in the Open box and click OK.

Note: There is a space between regsvr32 and atl.dll

    3. Similarly, one by one, register the files listed below:

    Regsvr32 msxml3.dll

    Regsvr32 wuapi.dll

    Regsvr32 wuaueng.dll

    Regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll

    Regsvr32 wups2.dll

    Regsvr32 wucltui.dll

    Regsvr32 wups.dll

    Regsvr32 wuweb.dll

    Regsvr32 qmgr.dll

    Regsvr32 qmgrprxy.dll

    Regsvr32 jscript.dll

Note: If you encounter errors while registering any of these files then skip that file and continue with the next one.

If the issue persists, let's move on to the steps below to verify Windows Update services and temporary folders.

Step 2 Verify the relevant Windows Update services.

    =========================================

    1. Click Start->Run, type "services.msc" (without quotation marks) in the open box and click OK.

    2. Double click the service "Automatic Updates".

    3. Click on the Log On tab, please ensure the option "Local System account" is selected and the option "Allow service to interact with desktop" is unchecked.

    4. Check if this service has been enabled on the listed Hardware Profile. If not, please click the Enable button to enable it.

    5. Click on the tab "General "; make sure the "Startup Type" is "Automatic" or "Manual". Then please click the button "Stop" under "Service Status" to stop the service.

    6. Then please click the button "Start" under "Service Status" to start the service.

    7. Please repeat the above steps with the other services:

    Background Intelligent Transfer Service

    Event Log

    Remote Procedure Call (RPC)

Note: Event log service is enabled on all of the hardware profiles; this service does not have an option to enable or disable on certain hardware profile.

If it still does not help, let's proceed to step 3.

Step 3 Reload the Update temporary folders.

    ===================================

One possible cause is that the temporary folder for Windows Update is containing corrupted files. Let's erase all the files there to get the system clean.

    1. Click Start, Run, type: cmd and press Enter. Please run the following command in the opened window.

    Net stop WuAuServ

    2. Click Start, Run, type: %windir% and press Enter.

    3. In the opened folder, rename the folder SoftwareDistribution to Sdold.

    4. Click Start, Run, type: cmd and press Enter. Please run the following command in the opened window.

    Net start WuAuServ

Please test the Windows Update website and let me know the result. If the issue persists, to clarify the issue and provide more accurate troubleshooting steps, please assist me in collecting the following information.
