Audio volume problem following Win10 KB4512941 update

On 9/3/2019, my Windows 10 system updated with KB4512941. Since that time, any audio streaming (song, advertisement, autoplayed video or audio) begins playing at a very loud level. After 10 seconds, the volume fades to the intended volume I set in the Volume Control. Any new songs, ads, etc. restart the volume loud again.

I have already turned off Audio Enhancements, disabled Spatial Sound, and configured Communications to "Do Nothing". I've restarted my system, and updated with KB4506991, hoping the problem will have been solved in that update (it wasn't). Since the problem started with KB4512941, I don't suspect my audio drivers for Realtek Audio on my Dell G7 machine.

I use this system for audio playback during theatrical shows with a live audience. At the moment, I cannot use my system for any shows. I cannot have this uncontrolled volume change in the system. I need a solution.

    :)

    Hi arejfour

KB4512941 is the latest Cumulative update for version 1903 of Windows 10, which was just released yesterday, it should not be optional, it is a standard Cumulative update . . .

Yes, you should apply that update, here is a list of the improvements and fixes in that update:

Audio volume problem following Win10 KB4512941 update

Volume goes to zero and mute.

    Hi William,

If the volume of your computer automatically mutes, it could be that the audio drivers are corrupted or damaged, or that there are software conflicts occurring within the system. As a first troubleshooting step, we suggest that you run the audio troubleshooter
and lets Windows find and automatically resolve problems with your audio. Here's how to run the audio troubleshooter:

    • Select the Start button, then type troubleshoot, and select
Troubleshoot from the list of results. From there, select
      Playing Audio
      > Run the troubleshooter.

If the troubleshooter does not help resolve the problem with your volume settings, we suggest that you check Device Manager and update your sound card drivers. Updating would replace any corrupted or damaged components of the audio driver. Here's how to
update your audio drivers through Device Manager:

    • Open the Start button, then type device manager, and select
Device Manager from the search results.
    • Under Sound, video and game controllers, right-click your sound card driver, then select
      Update Driver.
    • Select Search automatically search for updated driver software.
If Windows doesn't find a new driver, you may look for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions on how to install their driver.

If the above steps doesn't resolve the problem, feel free to post back to us.
