Windows 10: Auto rotate function issue

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 with Windows 10.

The old hdd was starting to fail so i bought a new ssd, fresh install of windows 10, updated etc.

The laptop has tablet mode, but no auto rotate function now.

First i updated registry for autorotate.

Checked device manager but the sensor isnt listed.

Checked display setting advanced options wasnt listed there

Restarted with no success, the action button and function arent working and device isnt listed in manager.


I replaced the old hdd and waiting a long time for start up, the autorotate function is working and the device manager recognizes it on the old hdd and everything functions normally.


What am i missing on the new ssd that device manager cant recognize the device and the button isnt displayed in actions and the function isnt working.


Same windows key, same version of Windows, same hardware except different hard drive. I also did troubleshooting and followed all advice i could find online, this is my last resort.

• What is the make and model of your device?
• Have you checked on the action center if there is a Rotation lock option?

In the meantime, we suggest that you check the Screen Resolution display to check if there is a setting to allow the screen to auto-rotate. Here are the steps:

• Go to Control Panel.
• Search for Display and then click Change display settings.
• Mark the checkbox beside Allow the screen to auto-rotate option if possible.
• Click Apply and then OK.

Auto-Rotate button not fully functional


My Auto-Rotate button isn't fully functional in W10 RTM and was in W10 TP.

In W10 RTM the Auto-Rotate button doesn't function when my 2-in-1 isn't rotated. In W10 TP the Auto-Rotate button functioned in whether rotated or not.

Anyone observe anything similiar? Thanks.

Why does my screen not rotate?


The auto rotation lock feature is turned on by default in Windows 10. Use the following steps to turn off this feature.

1. Place the tablet into Pad/Tablet mode.
2. Click the Start
   
   menu and select Settings.
3. Click System.
4. Click Display.
5. Scroll down and toggle Lock rotation of this display to OFF.
