    automatic repair loop

I have this automatic repair loop on my Windows 10 computer (HP computer with model HPE 467C). I have not been able to boot into my normal Windows 10 login screen for 3 weeks already, instead I have been getting automatic repair loop appearing on my pc each time I power on my computer.

I have attempted many different repair options that I came across on Youtube videos and the instructions given in Microsoft community page here. I have tried startup repair, system restore, startup settings and even typed many different commands in the command prompt under advanced options. . I have tried all of these repair options booting from my pc's hard drive. None of these has worked for me.

I have also created Windows 10 bootable dvd and booted my computer off of it. I used this Windows 10 bootable dvd to go into advanced options and used all of those options under advanced options, but none has worked for me either.

After attempting these repair options, I initially got this error message, "Log file: D:\Windows\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt, but afterwards now instaed of showing D in this error message, it shows C.

I watched many Youtube videos on how to fix this automatic repair loop problem. The Youtubers' screen in Command Prompt showed X:\Windows\System32, my Command Prompt shows X:\sources. Also I clicked on Advanced Options, I got taken to the next screen where 3 options are shown and they are: Continue, Troubleshoot, Turn off your PC. All of the Youtubers' videos show Windows 10 right below the Continue option, whereas my Continue option is missing Windows 10 below it. Also when I click on various repair options like Startup Repair or System Restore, once I get taken to the next screen, which does not show Windows 10 as the target operating system. Windows 10 is NOT shown either, but those Youtubers' videos show Windows 10 in that screen.

Additionally, Reset this PC option under Advanced Options is no longer shown. It was there I booted my pc off of the Windows 10 bootable dvd. I am unsure whether the booting from the bootable dvd caused it to disappear.

I have spent every day of the last 3 weeks trying to fix this problem but to no avail. Could someone please help me resolve this problem and enable me to keep my personal files and all of my apps and settings. I never had this problem before.

    :)

  2. Automatic Repair Loop

    Hi Charlene,

Your concern regarding the device going into an Automatic Repair Loop can be caused by change on its settings/configuration or broken system files. To effectively assist you with your concern, can confirm if you've made any changes on your device prior to
    your concern?

As an initial step to get back into the normal Windows screen, we suggest that you perform a
Startup repair. The repair will attempt to fix any broken components/files which may prevent your device from booting properly. To do this, follow the steps below:

    • On theAutomatic Repair screen, select Advanced options.
    • Select Troubleshoot.
    • Select Advanced options.
    • Select Startup Repair.

We'll appreciate if you can send us an update.

    Automatic repair loop

Hi there, thanks for your question.

Here are the steps I generally recommend to fix automatic repair boot loops:

    Use Check Disk Utility

Fix Boot and Rebuild BCD via Command Prompt

    Restore Windows Registry

    Delete the Problematic File

    Disable Automatic Startup Repair

    Check Device Partition and OsdevicePartition

Perform Refresh or Reset Your PC

These steps are listed in detail with instructions in the below article:

If you're still experiencing issues after these steps, please let me know and I'll see what else we can try! Thanks!
