    Backing Up Windows 10

OK, So I've got Windows 10 installed from my Win7 SP1 disk. My first question is at some future point, will I be able to reinstall from that? And my 2nd question, seeing as that would be insane and take forever, what is the best way of backing up/being able to reinstall up my windows 10 installation?

    Thanks,

    James.

    Backing up Windows 10

    Hello Jab,

Noting the details you've included on your post. You would need to manually perform the backup if you'd want to exclude some files from the backup process—that, or perform the backup then just delete the files you didn't want.

Here's our support article for guidelines:

Back up and restore your PC

Back up and restore your files

Note: Both methods apply to Windows 10.

Let us know if you need further clarifications.

    Regards.

    Backing up Windows 10

    Hello,

I am getting a new PC soon. I only have about 120 GB on 2 user profiles on my PC. I want to get a 1TB external hard drive to back it up to. My question is: Is there a way to exclude certain files from the backup process? I have tons of old college assignments
etc that I don't need anymore, and it doesn't make sense to use up the extra space. Is this all just drag and drop? That seems time consuming :/

    Thanks!

    Backing Up Windows 10

Once Win 10 is installed and activated you no longer need to use the win 7 SP1 disk to reinstall. You can just reinstall win 10. The Microsoft servers keep a hardware hash of your computer so that if win 10 is reinstalled it will remember it as activated. To check that you are activated go to Settings>system>about>System info. If you are activated you are all set. It may be a good idea to make a Win 10 iso in case you ever have to reinstall. Here is a tutorial for that https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/9...-download.html.

There are tons of free backup software to choose from. One of the most mentioned ones is Macrum Reflect Free. The trick is to choose one and use it.
