Windows 10: Backup & Restore Windows 7 Error code 0x80070005 Access is denied

For some years, I have done a full Backup automatically every week using Backup & Restore Windows 7. In Jun 20, it stopped working with Access is denied Error code 0x80070005.



I hadn't changed anything. I can't remember if there had been a Windows Update at the time. I've searched and found some ole posts about user permissions and Block Level services but thuse fixes didn't address the issue. I'm running Windows 10 Pro version 2004. The backup drive is a Seagate USB drive which I've had for 2 years for just this purpose.


I haven't had time before now to get round to finding the fix. Can you help? Thanks

Access denied error code

I am getting the access denied error code (0x80070005) when I am trying to do a system backup apparently keeping it from completing the backup. I found a thread that had a fix for this, but was more related to the Windows Update with Windows 7 and Vista.
I have Windows 10 and I was wondering if that fix will solve my problem as well.

 

Cannot create a system restore point (0x80070005 Access Denied)

I tried to create a restore point but it show this error code (0x80070005 Access Denied). I searched the internet but i cant find good answers. How can I fix this? Thanks.

I have problem with Control Panel -> Backup and Restore (Windows 7) -> Create a system image (I want to backup C: and Recovery parition).

I've tried to use my second partition (D:) of same drive and also Ext.HDD, but it always fail.

I've turned off UAC.

I've tried to kill Webroot (Antivirus).

I've tried this command in Powershell (elevated):

"WBADMIN Start Backup -BackupTarget:F: -include:C: -allCritical -quiet" (F: is my Ext.HDD, I've tried same with D:and also without -quiet parameter ),

and it has reported "Access denied".

I've taken ownership of entire Ext.HDD (including subcontainers and objects).

Access denied. Again...

I've noticed erros (after failed backup) in eventwvr -> Win Logs -> Application and one of them is (ID 513) :
