Bad Copy - MS Office 2013

Its a long story, and ongoing via Trading Standards but I bought a copy of Microsoft office from a pc support company who installed it for me. BUT they used software I know the name of but cant mention it here to produce a key. They are refusing to reply to my emails and I have spoken to MS but had no reply from them. Does anyone know the UK contact number? It reports as inactive - see image. I need to speak to MS UK please?

    :)

    WP8, Outlook Tasks & Office 2013

Thank you Entegy. How is the sync for the tasks achieved - via MS Live, or do the tasks automatically sync with Office 2013 (is it Office 2013 or Office 365?)

  3. CPU usage and MS Office Products on Windows 10

In the end, we sought IT support and decided to try and simply upgrade from MS Office 2013 to MS Office 2016. The change seems to have settled down the CPU usage issue. I remain dumbfounded how MS products can be so incompatible with one another (i.e.
Windows 10 and Office 2013, not to mention a slew of others).

I contacted MS UK on that number, they were very helpful, obtained a remote access and said, dont worry, we can activate it for you BUT, it will cost you £50. I said no thanks, its not my fault office is inactive and will have to go through the other channels of Trading Standards. Damn!

Bad Copy - MS Office 2013

From what I'm reading, it seems to me you do indeed have a counterfeit copy of Office that was most likely a "volume license" purchase by a corporation. It could be that you need to connect to the corporate network of the company that installed Office for you. I would rather think that than that you have a counterfeit copy.

However, the second paragraph leads me to be very suspicious:

What further tips me off is that it seems that a key generator was used by the "pc support company" to get the key.

Here in the US (and I suspect anywhere else), when you purchase a copy (full or upgrade) of any Microsoft product, the key comes with the software and a key generator isn't necessary to get the key.

If it were me, I'd inform the "pc support company" that I want a full and immediate refund or that a complaint will be filed with Microsoft, my local police department, Trading Standards, and anyone else you can think of, such as the US Attorney General and my home state Attorney General. Of course, if you have an attorney, it would be good to have this information imparted to them on his/her letterhead.

  9. £50 for a legitimate version of Office Professional Plus 2013, and you said no?

It's my understanding the OP wanted first to try to get his legitimate copy from the company that installed it on his computer.

I wouldn't pay £50 if I thought I had a chance to get either reimbursement for money spent, or a legitimate copy,

However, Microsoft did add one more nail in the coffin for that company as to their honesty.

I did inform MS form the beginning, they have been decidedly unhelpful. I may go back to MS and purchase a key but its against principles. MS have been made fully aware of this company but they declined to answer that as well.

I do wish someone would come out with an 'alternative windows' so I can kick Gates in the butt.

    1. Remember that it wasn't Microsoft that cheated you.
    2. Litigation costs money; Microsoft has a Board of Directors the same as most commercial entities do. They choose who they sue for copyright infringement.

We have to remember that Microsoft is a commercial entity and that they have a right to make a profit. If they gave a free copy of their product every time someone got cheated, they'd lose $Millions! We also have to remember that if there weren't pirates and thieves like those who took advantage of you, Software would cost a whole lot less.

There is an alternative Windows. *Smile We have Google's Chrome OS and Linux. I don't know enough about either to try them, but they're out there for those brave enough.

Bad Copy - MS Office 2013

I am not asking for a free copy and it was never mentioned. I want MS to do justice to the public via a 'Microsoft Accredited' third party.

I dont count linux nearly all I have would not run on it, and the last time I looked, was very Windows 3.11

    Isnt Chrome OS for Android

Various distributions of Linux are very similar to Win7 and are designed much like it. And MS doesn't have to supply you with a key for Office. You have to get it via the third party where you got it from in the first place.
