Windows 10: Bad Image Issue.

I bought my PC not too long ago after moving into my new home. I originally had it set up on a round table temporarily while I waited for my new corner desk. Excited to install it once it arrived, I hastily unplugged the PC from the back power port without shutting it down first. After I set up the desk and the PC, I started encountering the following issues:

officeclicktorun.exe - Bad Image. C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ondemandconnroutehelper.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc0000006.

Additional issues abounded. Microsoft Edge browser opens, then automatically closes. Google Chrome browser kept getting error messages when going to sites outside of Google. I uninstalled and reinstalled. Now, it just does not load anything and remains blank.

running sfc /scannow results in an error at 18% stating Windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation.

and Repair transaction[/quote] Similarly, doing a chkdsk /r only works upon restarting and gets stuck at 10%. I leave it running all night and when I wake up, the computer is at the startup page asking me to log in. The problem, however, remains.

Other issues exist. The Windows 10 Calendar app asks me to "fix account." When I click to do so and am required to sign in, the sign in box says: Something went wrong. Please try again later.

Seeing that the image problem has something to do with Microsoft Office, I attempted to uninstall, reinstall, or update the program. I consistently receive error messages from within Office such as "Something went wrong. Sorry, we ran into a problem. Go online for additional help. Error Code: 30068-13 (1715)." and "Couldn't stream Office. Sorry, we can't find a required file. Please check that the installation source is reachable, then try again. Go online for additional help. Error Code: 30183-9 (1)."

Following the advice on other forums, I disabled all startup items on msconfig. No dice.

I tried sfc /scannow from Safe Mode. Same result at 18%. I have not yet tried chkdsk /r from safe mode. Should I?

Finally, System Restore returns with a result that says, upon starting up and after System Restore says it has completed:

"System Restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed. Details: System Restore failed while scasnning the file system on the drive C:\. The drive might be corrupt. You might want to retry System Restore after running chkdsk /R on this disk. An unspecified error occurred during System Restore. (0x80070571). You can try System Restore again and choose from a different restore point. If you continue to see this error, you can try an advanced recovery method."

I have not tried a different restore point.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Bad image issue with Microsoft 10

After installing trial version of Microsoft office, I now cannot open any of my applications like internet explorer, iTunes, turbo tax, etc. I keep getting a bad image error. I tried to do a system recovery, however I get a bad image error when I try to
do that.

Yes, a loss of power while the system is on (even if idle) can do all kinds of damage to system files (hence the need for a Back-UPS).

Please make sure your important data is backed up. Uninstall MSOffice.

First option: Try an in-place upgrade. Grab the latest W10 ISO from MSTechBench, right-click to mount it, and run setup.exe, to see if the file corruptions can be fixed. Select "save apps and files". If that completes successfully, try chkdsk /r again, then sfc /scannow.

Second option: At boot, with the HP splash screen, tap the required key to get to the HP recovery environment. There you can either try a different restore point, or reset the computer to as it was when you first bought it.

You could try uninstalling it from within safe mode, and if that won't work either, go ahead and try option #1.
