So long story and you can probably skip the first 2 paragraphs here. I've got a new laptop and I've had a crazy time getting it where I wanted to be. I clean installed Windows 1809 to discover that any clean install off of 1809 will not cooperate with my print drivers for an HP Envy 7645. I also bought a Lenovo desktop recently and replicated the issue on a clean install of 1809 on that PC. After banging my head on that issue for days, I found out that reinstalling the Manufacturers recovery image and getting 1809 as an update instead of a clean install resolved that issue. So Windows 10 1809 is no good.

Then I found out that my Wifi is not connecting at wireless AC (It would connect at 802.11a for 5GHz and 802.11g for 2.4 GHz). I blamed the laptop's Intel 9560 chip/drivers for the last day and a half. I updated and troubleshooted BIOS, Intel Drivers, anything I could think of. I reinstalled both 1809 and the recovery image to try and isolate the wireless issue to the laptop as this is the only device in my whole household that wouldn't connect to 802.11ac. I ended up isolating the issue to some invisible config in my SOHO router. I could switch between my router's backup config and a fresh configuration mirroring my original router config through a manual process. For no visible reason whatsoever, the original config on my router wouldn't work. I presume config file was generated on an older firmware and something wasn't up to 802.11ac standards. So thats resolved. Networking works perfectly on both bands.

I just finally want to use my laptop. Its an OP-LP2 from Overpowered. Information should be a part of my profile. Feel free to lol to yourselves. It was $600 off from MSRP and was definitely in the worth it territory by the $800 price point. I'm stuck with this recovery image because Windows 1809 doesn't work for me. But the recovery image is not ideal (corrupted start menu tiles had to be repaired). At this point I would be satisfied if I could uninstall and remove the old networks off of this image. I cannot rename or reinstall my network adapters without them saying they are Wifi 2 or Ethernet 2.

I've gone into an Administrator Command Prompt. Set the variable set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1. Loaded up Device Manager and selected show hidden devices. It is not showing me any hidden devices.

I've used Both methods from this article: Reset Network Adapters in Windows 10 | Tutorials
Just to have all the adapters reinstall exactly the same.

I've seen some suggestions related to Registry keys but I follow their paths and their instructions are unclear what keys to delete and I'm not big on registry editing. Things they said to delete, either weren't there or they weren't specific. Please help, I know this is fairly cosmetic but it really hurts me in a special place. I'm an entry level CCNA certified Network Engineer with a Cisco lab and I'm always going into my Adapters to set static ips and seeing "2" will make me want to scratch my eyes out. I tried just renaming the adapter in ncpa.cpl itself just for it to say there already exists an adapter by the name "Ethernet" and the name "Wifi"

I really want just a complete reset of my network drivers and it like... makes me angry that a button that literally says Network Reset doesn't actually reset everything related to networking. Any input is appreciated. Moderators, if you feel this belongs better in the forum "Network and Sharing," then feel free to move it. I thought this forum would be a better fit because its the hidden driver install I can't seem to straighten out and not an actual network operation issue. Thanks.

    :)

    Issues with network adapters

    Hi Alfonso,

To resolve this issue, we suggest that you run the Network troubleshooter when you switch from WiFi to Ethernet connection. The Network troubleshooter can help diagnose and fix common connection problems including clearing the network cache to obtain a new
IP from the new network. Kindly follow the steps below:

    • In the search box on the taskbar, type Identify and repair network problems, and then select
Identify and repair network problems from the list of results.
    • Follow the steps in the troubleshooter and see if that fixes the problem.

If the issue persists, kindly try the troubleshooting steps on the following link:

Fix network connection issues in Windows 10
    .

We recommend that you try the steps on the Update the network adapter driver,
Run the Network troubleshooter followed by networking commands, and Use network reset to reinstall network devices sections.

Let us know how it goes for us to assist you further.
