Windows 10: Bad system config info, cannot turn on windows

My computer is running windows 10 but recently it has fallen into an infinite booting which it said the problem is bad system config. It is so frustrating to see it boot and reboot and all it ends up with a blue screen.


I tried to reset the computer which the system offered two choice to reset everything or reset windows only. However, the two choices failed and windows cannot be reset.


I have tried to boot the computer with other os with USB and it seems that the hdd in the computer should be still function and I was able to copied the files out to an external hdd.


I have tried system restore, which all possible restore point failed. Windows cannot start in safe mode. Start up repair failed. It cant go back to the previous version as well.


I really want to fix the computer. Hope someone can help in this problem. Thanks a lot!!!!!

Bad system config info and failure to launch windows 10

Windows 10 on a Dell XPS about 1.5 yrs old

turned machine on and got the Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart; bad system config info.

Went through the multiple suggestions to fix, repair or restore but none of them were successful. Seemed to get a consistent response that a problem was encountered and therefore no the problem couldn’t be resolved.

Under troubleshoot attempted the prompt command option. The message under the Microsoft Windows [version 10.0.17134.1] said not enough resources available to process this command.

I found a video on youtube to address the bad system config info issue and followed the steps as presented.

After going through that process my system still won’t boot up.

there apprared to be enough free space on C.

We appreciate your response. The error, bad config info means that something is wrong with the registry on your PC and you'll need to return to a previous configuration. Kindly follow the steps below to perform a system restore:

• Turn off your PC by pressing and holding the power button, then turn it back on. When you see your PC manufacturer's logo, turn the PC off again. Repeat the process until you see
  Please wait.
• Select Troubleshoot, then choose Advanced options >
  System Restore.
• Choose an administrator account and enter the password. Select Continue.
• Choose a restore point to restart your PC to. Select last known good configuration.
• If you're still having trouble or if there's no restore point available, the last option we have is to
  reset your PC.

Bad System Config Info

Hi John,

Thanks so much for your suggestion. Sadly, the fixes did not work, and I'm still getting "bad system config info."

MS support is still not honoring phone calls reserved in advance/promises to call back in a few minutes-- must say I'm disappointed.

Any further ideas?
