Windows 10: Bad System Config Info on bootup.

Over the past few days, my computer monitor has been freezing while the audio continues for a while, then stops and makes a stuttering sound before restarting. After a restart, it'd be fine and after a few days, it had stopped. Now it won't let me even boot up windows. Yesterday night I turned on my computer and no youtube videos could play and the debug message just recommended I restart. So I did. After that finished (windows had opened up, but then decided to reboot for some reason), it entered a low-resolution state. In the login menu, I could select the user I wanted, but the password could not be entered and nothing else could not be done, so I had to force a power down by holding the power button. Now it won't even boot up, it'd go into an automatic repair state, fail at that, and then open the windows recovery environment.

Sometimes during a restart it'd try to load windows normally, but freeze on the screen with the windows logo and the spinning dots for a few seconds before a reboot, in which case it repeats the automated repair state part again.
Currently what I've tried is:
1. System restore
2. Rolling back both feature updates and quality updates
3. Running SFC and chkdsk/R (both outputted some errors about not being able to write or modify the disk)
4. Using a boot disk to try to repair startup
5. Using a boot disk to try to update windows keeping all my settings (it did not allow me to do so)
6. Using recovery environment then boot disk ran

• Bootrec /fixmbr
• Bootrec /fixboot
• Bootrec /scanos
• Bootrec /rebuildbcd
  Scanos and rebuild BCD both could not find an OS install
  
• Using a boot disk ran
  bcdedit/deletevalue {default} numproc
  bcdedit/deletevalue {default} truncatememory
  (neither command could run although I forget the error code)
  
• Ran the following commands in succession from the CMD in the recovery environment first, then a boot disk

1. Use the following command:
   CD C:\Windows\System32\config
   (here C is the partition where Windows is installed).
2. Enter the following commands one by one to rename these files with the .old postfix:
   ren C:\Windows\System32\config\DEFAULT DEFAULT.old
   ren C:\Windows\System32\config\SAM SAM.old
   ren C:\Windows\System32\config\SECURITY SECURITY.old
   ren C:\Windows\System32\config\SOFTWARE SOFTWARE.old
   ren C:\Windows\System32\config\SYSTEM SYSTEM.old
3. Enter the following commands one by one to copy registry backup files to your current registry folder. This completes the manual restoration of your computer’s registry.
   1. copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\DEFAULT C:\Windows\System32\config\
   2. copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\SAM C:\Windows\System32\config\
   3. copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\SECURITY C:\Windows\System32\config\
   4. copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\SYSTEM C:\Windows\System32\config\
   5. copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\SOFTWARE C:\Windows\System32\config\
      Part 2 worked when i tried it in the recovery environment but did not in the boot disk environement. The 3rd part did not work and could not find a file to direct in either environment.

Bad System Config Info

Hi John,

Thanks so much for your suggestion. Sadly, the fixes did not work, and I'm still getting "bad system config info."

MS support is still not honoring phone calls reserved in advance/promises to call back in a few minutes-- must say I'm disappointed.

Any further ideas?

Bad system config info and failure to launch windows 10

Windows 10 on a Dell XPS about 1.5 yrs old

turned machine on and got the Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart; bad system config info.

Went through the multiple suggestions to fix, repair or restore but none of them were successful. Seemed to get a consistent response that a problem was encountered and therefore no the problem couldn’t be resolved.

Under troubleshoot attempted the prompt command option. The message under the Microsoft Windows [version 10.0.17134.1] said not enough resources available to process this command.

I found a video on youtube to address the bad system config info issue and followed the steps as presented.

After going through that process my system still won’t boot up.

there apprared to be enough free space on C.

thanks in advance for any assistance

Bad system config info Windows 10

After i upgrade to W10, on a Toshiba Sattellite, L845 SP202, i5 4 gb RAM, i had no sound...

Then, when i restarted, it shows a blue screen with the Bad system config info...

I tried every step the system adviced, but nothing seems to work...

Not even go back to W7
