Windows 10: Battery problem 01minute until fully charge

Where you ever able to get a solution to the battery charging problem?

 

Similar problem here: 02 minutes to full charge when battery is at 25%. Lucky even to get this - more times than not get message "plugged in not charging" and the battery does not charge. Dell diagnosics on battery showed no problem - 78% life is left in it. Tried uninstalling Microsoft battery monitor and reinstalling it - inconsistent results. Updated to latest BIOS and chipset from Dell. Did Windows 10 recovery re-install. Set up a new profile (someone said the profile was corrupt), None of these solved the problem. Plus problems with typing into Cortana search box and calculator - doesn't take keyboard input. Wish I could go back to Windows 8.1 - but over 30 days issue. Hate Windows 10!

 

The issue, at least for me, doesn't affect the physical charging of the battery, just the display of the remaining percentage. Even then, when the real charge gets to around 70%, the tooltip showing the time to full charge corrects itself and all is displayed fine.

The plugged in but not charging issue could be a faulty laptop charger. My mother, who has a Dell (like me), had a similar issue, which was eventually fixed by getting a new charger. There are some things you can do to try and remedy this without the need for a new charger, like taking out the laptop's battery and holding down the power button for ten seconds, which might reset charging issues (it won't affect your OS install, just the charging memory), so search for that kind of thing on the Internet. Another is to clean out the connections on both laptop and charger. Yet another is to ensure a tight connection by carefully and slightly bending the internal connectors to ensure a tight connection. Still, if the fault is with the charger, then a new charger is probably your only route.

The plugged in but not charging tooltip issue isn't a Windows 10 thing, as my mother still has Windows 8.1.

 

Doesn't seem to be the charger cause - after last time of unloading and reloading the battery monitoring software and taking and putting the battery back in, without touching the charger - then the battery charged up to 100%. Tried all the other stuff too - to no avail. It's just pretty weird with the inconsistencies - sometimes the techniques suggested on the forums work - and sometimes they don't. Pretty frustrating. Interesting though that Windows 8.1 had same issue, so I won;t try going back there to solve the problem. I'm beginning to think that there is some incompatibility between Dell laptops and Windows drivers that is at the root of this -but not so often that either company thinks that a fix is in order.
