Windows 10: Best Anti-Virus?

Discus and support Best Anti-Virus? in AntiVirus, Firewalls and System Security to solve the problem; I used to have Malwarebyte (free, so only as an on-demand scanner) but that was before version 3.     Best Anti-Virus?


    I turned on the PUA protection and Defender now objects to Wise Disk Cleaner which some on this forum recommend. Kaspersky Total Security which I recently uninstalled never objected to Wise Disk Cleaner. Is Wise Disk Cleaner safe to use or not?

    Yes, WD's PUA detection is somewhat nitpicky (better safe than sorry I guess). Today it deleted an Auslogics software (registry packer) that I hadn't used ever, btw.

    On my Windows 7 system, some how Auslogics slipped in. It took a registry search to remove all of it.

    My rule of my thumb.
    Once a program sneaks into my system, I will never use those products no matter what.

    I really don't know. Maybe the two terms are interchangeable. But the registry key I downloaded from here (w10 forums) it was called PUA, so I kept using that acronym. I think it's the new trend to say Apps instead of Programs. That's the beaty and magic of languages. They are living and constantly evolving.

    Think when newer laptop arrives on December 27th, i'll officially use Defender with that, might switch over Desktop, and possibly other Desktop as well, main purpose of laptop will be secondary gaming PC, sometimes Hulu watching, use when Desktop is busy with something at times

    I am now trying BitDefender Free and I am quite amazed about how fast it is. The spartan interface resembles WD a lot too.

    Unfortunately, you have zero control when something goes wrong. I had a bad time today trying to exclude a folder.

    Too much autopilot I think.

    Try some AV using BD engine/signatures, like: Tencent PC Manager or 360 Total Security Essential

    I have already tested 360 TSE. Its detection rate/real-time protection is somehow hit&miss and it gives a hell of false positives. I will stay with WD for now, but maybe I will give BD Free another try in the future.
