Windows 10: Bitlocker decryption paused at 73.1% and stuck

I plugged in an external HD that was protected by bitlocker.

A pop-up windows shows that Decryption is paused at 73.1.





There is a resume button but when clicked, it only makes it worse and the window is Not Responding.


On cmd, I checked manage-bde -status:

I tried to do manage-bde -off and -on, but both commands would result in: error code 0x80310059




I also tried to do on windows powershell the repair and recover prompt, but it doesn't copy any file at all. and the new harddrive does not even make a writing/reading sound.

I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below to fix the issue.

1. Open the command prompt as admin.
   
2. Type in manage-bde –off <drive> and hit
   Enter.
   
   manage-bde –resume <drive>
   

manage-bde –on <drive>

Replace Drive by drive letter

1. Restart the computer and check the status of the issue

Bitlocker stuck decrypting, unable to pause

Hi all

I have a serious problem with decrypting my external drive as it stuck at 65.5% and, the thing I tried:

I tried to pause it but when I click pause after few seconds the window goes into Not Responding status and my whole computer slowing down.

I tried to use manage-bde command but this is the same as GUI, not responding.

My drive is set to Autounlock Mode, so soonest I plug it starts to decrypt, so it is constantly busy, so I can't even copy files.

So my question is how I can stop decryption process? or If you have any other solutions please let me know.

I use Windows 10 no TPM

I have followed the steps for my device (D in Windows PowerShell as mentioned by you but I got the following result mentioning "the device is not ready". Please help with any alternate solution.
