  1. BitLocker Key works with System Disk but not Data Disk

Hello, I have a similar question as others concerning the Bitlocker encryption but my problem seems a little different than any I have read about. My computer is running Win 10 and has an SSD System disk and a second SATA Data disk. I wanted to make an Image of the SSD System so I turned off the computer, removed the Data disk and installed another blank Sata disk to copy the Image to. After turning the Computer on again, I turned off BitLocker for the System disk it was never on for the Data disks, made the Image file then turned the computer back off again. I removed the Sata disk then sta

  2. use Bitlocker to encrypt files on the disk

    Hello,
We try to use Bitlocker to encrypt files on the disk.
    Met with such a problem.
We created a test virtual server (VmWare) with Windows Server 2019 and entered it into the domain.
His D drive with data was encrypted using Bitlocker. The key is obtained from the password.
Then we cloned this virtual server with Windows Server 2019 to create a production system, entered it into the domain and changed the Bitlocker’s password so that it differed on the test and production system.
After rebooting the new virtual server with Windows Server 2019 (production), the encrypted disk using the new password is no longer visible.
In our opinion, until the server was overloaded, the password was stored in the cache and could be used, and after the reboot it changed, it is stored somewhere in OS Windows (where it is not clear!) And we do not know the password.
We tried several times to remove Bitlocker and enable it again. While the server in the current session, data on the disk is visible. After rebooting, the drive is locked.
After entering the password to unlock, the icon on the disk takes the form of an open lock, but the data is not available - i.e. Data decryption does not occur (it looks very likely that either the wrong storage key or the wrong VMK (volume master key)
    is taken).
Although, when working with the Repair utility, decryption takes place and the data is correctly extracted. After that, the data on this drive becomes available (it looks like the key cache has changed). After the next reboot (reset cache), the situation
    returns to normal.
Maybe you have specialists who will help us correct the situation and advise on further actions so that you can use Bitlocker with confidence to encrypt files on disk?

Bitlocker recovery of a partition broken disk

SO I Had a big 3 TB disk, I used one partition with bitlocker GPT, another that's 200 GB with Linux ubuntu on it and one with 9 GB for linux system required partition. I wanted to remove the linux. I used AOMEI assistant to delete linux partitions, but I
did it without deleting contents of partition option (probably the problem), then the windows disk partitioner showed 200 GB of unallocated space, I then extended the bitlocker partition to the unallocated space using windows partitioner, then everything broke
and stopped working, the bitlocker recovery key, password, nothing unlocks the disk.

My guess is that the windows partitioner didn't clear data that was in unallocated space, so it added alot of random data to bitlocker partiton, the random data doesn't have metadata, so it doesn't unlock right? That's my theory. How do I recover my data,
it's still there, how do I get to it.

  4. BitLocker Key works with System Disk but not Data Disk

    Foreign Disk

    Hi,

You will only lose the data in the Foreign Disk once you convert it to a "Basic Disk" in Disk Management.

To allow the disk to be recognized, follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows key and type "Disk Management" and click on it.
    • Right-click on the foreign disk and select "Import Foreign Disks..."

Feel free to post back with more information.
