Windows 10: Bits service registration missing or corrupt

I'm running Windows 10 on a Dell Inspiron laptop. I'm having trouble installing the latest update, getting the "0x8000f0988" error. Likewise, I tracked the problem down to the BITS service. The BITS troubleshooter tells me that the service registration is missing or corrupt. I've run dism twice; both times, getting the message "The source files cannot be found." The dism command I used is the standard one:"dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth". I've also run "sfc /scannow" twice; the first run got stuck at 98% and forced a reboot, while the second run showed no problems. The Windows Update troubleshooter says I need to reboot, which I'll after I finish this although I've rebooted several times, but nothing's changed. Since all the recovery solutions seem to need Windows Update which, by the way, has no trouble downloading and installing updates for Windows Security, I'm not sure how to proceed. Any help would be deeply appreciated.

fixed.. so i clicked on detailed information and it says all this.. what is this and how can i fix this?

Did everything mentioned here and here, to no avail. I even tried "SFC/ Scannow", and it didn't find any integrity violations.

Please help!

Microsoft Edge and others like weather and windows Store Market gives errors and does not work and below error 0x80072EE7]





it is while:

• all my non-Microsoft apps have no problem connecting to internet
  
• IE and My Windows 10 updates and office apps are connecting
  

other useful points to consider:

• I have upgraded to windows 10 recently
  
• I am Behind the corporate Firewall and internet proxy with authentication
  
• direct internet access also does not fixed the problem
  
• I have installed proxifier (which i think changed some internal network setting)
  
• before installing proxifier and adding my 2 corporate email accounts i was able to connect the edge but after installing my apps i am getting this error
  
• windows update trouble shooter is also complaining about ** related to BITS service (Background Intelligent Transfer Service)
  
• Service registration is missing or corrupt
  

any help is appreciated
