    Every time I log in I get a black screen after a few seconds. I’ve fixed it using the task manager many times but this time I can’t open it and I can’t even shut the computer down when I press the button.

    So this is not a BSOD ? Have a Windows 10 disc or USB Flash Drive made ? How are you getting to task manager Ctrl.+Alt+Del ? Any cursor on screen ?

    Hi Dan,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

    • Have you installed all pending updates?
    • Are you able to log into Desktop?
    • Is the issue specific to Ctrl + Alt + Del screen?

    Black screen error can occur if the computer is not up to date with all Drivers and Windows updates. Install all pending updates and check if that helps.

    Hi. I just had this annoying black screen after I just logged in to my laptop. It is a black screen with a cursor. Pressing ESC, Windows key, ctrl+alt+delete or windows key+R then typing explorer.exe don't do anything good, still a black screen so it forces
    me to press the power button to restart. I didn't perform any updates on my OS because I am on metered connection nor install any new drivers. Please help me fix this...
