    Black Screen after Start-up


    Recently I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 on my laptop. Ever since then, every time I restart or turn on my computer, after the windows logo comes up, the screen becomes black with no cursor and it can stay like that for hours before the login screen comes up. Because of that I just put it to sleep whenever I’m done using it. I would like to know if anyone knows any solutions. ctrl+alt+del does nothing

    I don’t know much about computers, so I probably wont understand anything too technical.

    Sounds like the old... windows black screen of death.

    Try this quoted from "VisiHow" article "Repair Windows 7 Black Screen of Death":

    They, also, have some other options there, too.
    Google search and you will find a lot of the "Windows Black Screen of Death with cursor" fixes.

    • Were you able to get to the desktop screen after you restarted the system?
    • When the screen was blank, were you able to see the cursor on the screen?
    • Did you get any error code or error message?

    Please get back to us with answers to above questions, for us to suggest the appropriate troubleshooting steps.

    Black Screen after Start-up

    Black Screen after Log on


    Computer boots to windows log on,have no password here.After a minute on log on it go to a black screen,stays there forever. I can get to Task Manager from black Screen,lost on what to do next. Just want my Windows 10 back, not sure what caused this problem. Any Suggestion on what my next step should be?*Sad
