    Hi,


    I have been using a relatively old Samsung laptop as a PBX server with windows 10 without any problems for a few months now. Recently I found the machine stuck on a black screen, not responding to any inputs. I forced shutdown using the power button and tried to restart it. However, it keeps booting into a black screen. After multiple forced reboots I got a BSOD once with the error "Unable to mount boot volume".


    After this I tried getting into WinRe, but without succes. The system still gets stuck on a black screen. I don't have any important data on this machine and the server data is backed up in cloud so I thought I'd give a clean install a try. I made a bootable USB using the media creation tool and tried booting the system from the USB.


    The USB shows up in the bootable devices list with a UEFI tag but when I select it, the screen gets stuck on the blue windows logo with spinning dots. As for the bios settings, the OS mode is set to UEFI/Legacy OS and secure boot is disabled. AHCI mode is enabled.


    Does anyone have an idea what this could be?

    Sounds like the old... windows black screen of death.

    Try this quoted from "VisiHow" article "Repair Windows 7 Black Screen of Death":

    They, also, have some other options there, too.
    Google search and you will find a lot of the "Windows Black Screen of Death with cursor" fixes.

    Black Screen after Log on


    Computer boots to windows log on,have no password here.After a minute on log on it go to a black screen,stays there forever. I can get to Task Manager from black Screen,lost on what to do next. Just want my Windows 10 back, not sure what caused this problem. Any Suggestion on what my next step should be?*Sad
