Windows 10: Black screen w cursor. "Tablet driver is not running"

Yesterday my Dell XPS 15 decided it would update itself without asking. I leave it over night. 9 hours later it's at 90%. A few more hours later it's displaying the log in screen wallpaper without controls. A few more hours still the same. It didn't look as if it was updating so I decide to turn it off and on. Turning on goes to log in screen with controls. I enter my pin... it displays "welcome" with the spinning circle dots loading animation... then the screen goes black with the cursor visible. After 5 minutes a box opens saying "tablet driver is not running". Nothing is plugged in, only the charger.

The only thing that was wrong with it before the update... Photos, Videos, Calculator and some native Windows apps wouldn't open, or repair for many months after I posssssibly removed a core file when trying to uninstall a programme that coincidentally had "preprocessor" in its name... (The app wasn't uninstalling so I nuked every file with preprocessor in its name foolishly). Whether or not I did do any damage I don't actually know.

Hold Shift does nothing. Windows+Ctrl+Shift+B opens blue screen with options. Task Manager won't open... returns to black screen.

I'm thinking I may as well leave it over night again in case it's continuing to update? ... but if it's still broke after that what should I do?

Black screen with blinking cursor

I run Windows 10 and have a black screen with a blinking cursor in the upper left corner. I can hit Control, Alt, Delete, and it reboots momentarily, show the Dell logo and F2 Setup anf F12 Boot Options in the lower right corner. Regardless of what key
I hit, it goes right back to the Black screen w/ cursor. I can't seem to do anything. Any suggestions?

 

Black Screen w/ Cursor + shaky screen that goes off and on randomly

This problem started a few months ago. When it first started, every time I entered my password into the start screen, it would lead me to a black screen w/ cursor.

I left this problem alone for a while, and recently when I opened the computer back up, the start screen was shaking/fidgeting. It then progressed into the screen randomly going black and the back on. While the screen was off, I could still use my mouse
and keyboard. Also, it still had the black screen w/ cursor when I entered my password.

- Restarting the computer while keeping my files did not work

- I can not access windows+r

- I can access task manager

- I can access safe mode

- My monitor is not the problem, the monitor worked fine with another computer.

- I tried leaving the computer on the black screen w/ cursor for a long long time to no avail.

Any help with this problem?

My desktop is an HP Envy running Windows 10

 

Windows 10 black screen w/cursor

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop, Windows 10 recently updated. It is in the sleep mode, black screen w/ cursor. Cannot get it out of sleep mode to attempt fixes . Help !
