Windows 10: Black screen with cursor for couple of minutes then fine after login

Hello, A week ago my computer started it strangely after the most recent MS Windows update. Usually when I log into my computer, it only takes a few moments before the desktop shows up and I'm good to go. Now after login it shows the login circle for about 30 seconds before turning completely black. I have access to my mouse and can run commands like Task Manager and the like. The black screen lasts for a few minutes and then my desktop displays correctly as usual. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hello,

A week ago my computer has been booting it oddly after the most recent MS Windows update.

Typically when I log into my computer it takes just a few moments before displaying the desktop and I am ready to go. Now after I log in, it displays the login circle for about 30 seconds or so before going full black. I have access to my mouse and can perform
commands like Task Manager and the like. The black screen lasts for a few minutes and then my desktop is displayed properly as normal.

I have already uninstalled and then fully updated my GPU driver, disabled any antivirus software and tried ending the explorer.exe task and then restarting it. Also checked to see if it was just a loose connection but also no issue there.

One thing to note though is that after I downloaded the latest graphics driver I had to restart the computer. Upon the restart there were no delays at all.

Unsure what to try next. Otherwise my computer is running just fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Black screen with cursor after install and first login


Just upgraded my bro-in-law's HP Pavilion desktop from 8.1 to 10. It's got an AMD processor, but I don't know which one exactly...probably one of the lower level ones. It was a refurb from Fry's, purchased a couple of months ago. It was running 8.1 just fine.

The upgrade process to win 10 went smoothly, got the pretty picture and the standard login screen, entered login info and got a series of messages welcoming me to win 10 and that the system was being configured. Then a message that said the install was "taking a bit longer than usual" and to wait a while longer. Stayed on this for about 10 minutes, and then screen went black with a cursor. And it's been that way for the past two hours. Just leaving it for now hoping it will magically come up with the win 10 desktop, but so far no love.

Any ideas?

 

Black screen no cursor or login

My Samsung laptop is technically switched on in the sense that it has power, however when I switch it on there is no login screen, no screen with the samsung logo, and no cursor. No matter how many buttons I press or how often I switch it on and off, it remains the same - black, power but nothing else. Any advice?
